Robert Menchin101 Classic Jewish Jokes: Jewish Humor from Groucho Marx to Jerry Seinfeld

The introduction mentioned that the wording of a joke makes a big difference in its impact. Many of the most popular jokes were here, but I was surprised that they needed editing. Some had punchlines that were followed by unnecessary extra words or a phrases that killed the laugh. Some people can tell them and some can't, so get an editor that can.

They are indeed classics --- familiar --- well presented and a pleasure to meet again.

A cute gift but not nothing more

I loved this book because the jokes are never off-color, I could enjoy them with my parents as well as with kids.

My family and I enjoyed reading the jokes in this book aloud and we all guffawed at them.

Maybe I should consult a dictionary. To me, "Classic" means the best, the most highly regarded; to others evidently it just means old. This is a collection of well-known jokes you've heard a thousand times before. Nothing wrong with that if you're a historian but the sub-title "..from Groucho Marx to Jerry Seinfeld" is misleading. The book contains only a passing reference to the artists and their material preferring to concentrate on jokes from history, funny as they are/were. There are some useful sections, "How to tell a Jewish joke" and "Common Yiddish terms" but the book is way past its sell-by date. Moshe: "You think I could sell a book of classic jokes for ten dollars?" Abramowitz: "Ten dollars? Moshe, this is a book of old jokes." Moshe: "Nine ninety-five then?"

I was somewhat disappointed most of the jokes in this book are old,too well known and not the best one could find
