Not really, but when he opened up the package he wouldn't stop smelling these. I love the scent as well and will never go back to using an apricot scrub or other microderm abrasion-type products. I have the Ethique bar holders and this along with the cleanser fit perfectly inside. I hold this little bar under the tap for a few seconds to soften and then basically rub the entire softened outer layer onto my face and then with wet hands I scrub it into my skin in small circles. I love that the little scrubby bits are not rough like some apricot scrubs I've used in the past because I can really scrub under my eyes were makeup can tend to settle after you've washed. I used it every single day and one bar lasted me at least a month. Really, all of Ethiques bars last a very long time if you use them properly. I can't stop saying enough good things about this company or their products.

I like everything about these bars. The scent is very subtle. I didn't really smell much until I rubbed the wet bar on my face. Would I like it to smell stronger- yes. SHOULD it smell stronger- probably not. Things that are naturally fragranced are not going to have the same scent potency as something that uses artificial fragrance. If I wanted something that smells super strong, I would have to buy something more artificial, which is not what I want.The shape is perfect to hold and manipulate around my nose. I love the scrubbiness of this bar so much, I use it on my body, too. My face feels soft, smooth, and gently moisturized when I'm done. I still use a face oil when I get out of the bath, but my skin doesn't have a tight, stripped feeling from using the bar.The exfoliation is not to harsh or too light. You want something gentle for the face, but I definitely feel the sugar. I like this bar so much, I hope they turn it into a full size bar for the body someday. I feel really pampered when I'm rubbing this into my face. I love the subtle fragrance when I'm using it. Exfoliating perfection!

UPDATE: I bought another box and made 3 discoveries: 1) they redesigned the shape to single ovals, 2) they now work as the video depicts, 3) the smell isn't there. It was a lot stronger on my 1st box and I miss the scent - it's one of the reasons I bought another box. Bummed but still like the product. Original Headline Review: I found the trick to using these -- and now they work great! First response: disappointed. Second response: love the stuff! Here's the gist: I was really disappointed in these the first week of use. Like other reviewers, I had issues w/ thems not disintegrating or breaking down properly -- it simply felt like I was rubbing a small piece of plastic on my face. No cleanser. No exfoliation at all. But I failed to give up because I fully support "give up the bottle". What did I do? I broke down the pieces, crammed them into the case, filled it with water, turned it upside down (the bottom has slats for quicker drying), & let them soak overnight. Presto! The 'snaps were completely malleable. They still didn't quite work the way the video described (rubbing a 'snap on your face) -- but, if you take a 'snap or two in your hand, wet it again, then start squeezing it like Playdoh, hand-to-hand, it does break down. Then, instead of rubbing the 'snap on your face, use the stuff on your hands. It works! The second picture looks like a turd (ha!), but it's the 'snap, after being played with like Playdoh. So to those naysayers I plead, "Try the 'snaps again. Please. The world needs less plastic."

Literally no scent, doesn’t dry out my skin and leaves it really soft and smooth. I wet my face, wet the bar well and rub the bar over my face and then well in the my hands - then proceed to wash my face. It takes a time or two getting used to the application but I’m really pleased. With once a day usage, one single bar (there are three in the box) lasted well over a month, maybe longer). The last couple of days, I was working with crumbs but I’m pleased to have found something that doesn’t come in a plastic bottle and works so well for my skin. I have the shampoos, moisturizers, and kitchen dish soap/laundry soap and I’m impressed with everything I’ve used.

Great face scrub! It is a tad on the abrasive side, so use as you can tolerate (please don't damage your skin). I need a good scrub in my skincare routine so this is perfect. I've been pairing this with the oily-normal face wash and I've been really happy with it so far, I usually have a hard time finding something that works well with my combination skin.You can either wet and rub the bar on your skin (this can be kinda rough though) or for a more gentle scrub lather in hands first.

I love Ethique and haven't found a product that I wasn't onboard with. Love, love these exfoliating bars and the treatment of my skin. The smell is delightful of gingerbread and subtle dessert goodness. It glows healthy throughout the day and then some and remains smooth, clean, and moisturized! It seems perfect regardless of weather and hopefully it can clear up skin as an added bonus. Packaging is eco-friendly which I love. So happy I was able to find an exfoliate in a bar form because I never knew that existed before now! Thank goodness for Ethique.

Wow! I’m so glad I didn’t let any of the poor reviews sway me! Maybe the product has been redesigned, but I have no idea why there would be anything but praise for this product. The “gritty” texture was just right; not too abrasive, but scratchy enough to remove dead skin from the surface of my face. Left my skin smooth, but not at all oily. After one use, I saw a visible difference in the apparence of blackheads on my nose.Great product! Vegan. Plastic free. Effective.Will buy again. Would recommend.

I received an expired product. Expiration date shows November 2020. Was shipped to me November 2021.The scent of the bar hides the expired old crayon smell nicely.I would love to give this a top rating but unfortunately can not.I love the Ethique products and have several, unfortunate this batch failed to meet the quality of the rest of them.

These last forever are very exfoliating but not drying at all. This planet does not need any more plastic packing!
