The price. I won't know about it's effectiveness until we get hit with an EMP. But what the hey? Gotta try. I doubt it will give any protection unless the car is running. And even then, who knows?

I heard about how EMPs, lightning strikes or even solar flares can fry all the electronics in vehicles and I have invested a lot in my truck so this could be useful. I'd rather be safe than sorry so I gave this a try.Installing it was pretty simple. You just hook it up to the battery and ground it then it's done. The instructions were pretty easy to follow and there’s videos online if prefer watching over reading. Took me about half an hour for everything. It's kind of hard to know if it’s working because there is no EMP attack or anything to test it out. I can only say I have been through a couple of storms with lightning strikes close by since and my truck’s electronics are fine. It's pretty much just an extra layer of protection just in case. The price is a bit high but when you think about the cost of replacing your whole setup it makes sense. They have a garauntee so hopefully that means it can handle the task. This is really just a peace of mind purchase but some people think it's a real threat so hopefully I never find out.

The "Vehicle EMP Protection 12 V DC for Vehicle Lightning" is constructed of heavy duty materials including a heavy polymer main body and relatively thick and long connector wires. The wiring is 12 AWG copper strand that has soldered and crimped connectors. You can mount the body with 2 screws (not included) or 3M tape installed on the back. Hook up is easy, two wires connect to the battery (white to negative, black to positive, which is non standard, but as indicated on the instructions), and the green wire is grounded to the chassis or frame. A green LED light shows the device is on, and it should not drain the battery on a regularly driven vehicle due to very low stand-by power consumption. The only issue is the ability to test if it works as I wouldn't want my vehicle to be hit by an EMP or lightening for testing. There are videos online that show how to test off vehicle; however, expensive equipment and electrical knowledge is required.
