Nowstalgic Toys Squirmles, The Magical Pet

I've bought several version of these as cat toys -- these are the best we've tried yet! There are 2 to pack, a large one and a smaller one, so it's the best value for the price. They come in a snap-close case, so you can store them away safely and neatly when not using them. I usually tie one to cat-toy wand, but my cat was so eager to play with them, she couldn't wait so we just played with them right out of the package for the first half-hour, until she was worn out from chasing them around -- and this is a 10 year old, overweight cat who usually only plays with any toy for five minutes. We've never had the smaller size before, and so far she's shown a preference for that one over the larger one. My arm sometimes get tired before she does.I purchased them from PerpetualKid and was very pleased with the price and shipping -- they arrived sooner than I expected. I will definitely be buying more of these from this seller! They only last a few weeks with regular play, but most cat toys should be replaced every few weeks to a couple of months anyway, so I don't see that as a problem. If they start to fray after a few weeks, that means my cat is having a ball with it!A note of caution -- these are NOT manufactured to be cat toys, so please use common sense and precautions when letting cats (or kids) play with them. First thing I do is cut the little plastic eyes off as soon as they come out of the package. They are small, and I'm afraid they might come off and present a choking hazard when kitty catches her favorite toy. So better to be safe than sorry. Also, when tying them to a stick or wand, make sure to secure the knot so that it won't slip off. I also keep the line fairly short -- just long enough to make it dance and fly, but not long enough for the cat to get tangled up in the thin fishing line. And above all -- it gets put away when play time is over. This, like many pet toys, should never be left out for the cat to play with unsupervised. If you keep your cat's safety in mind, these can provide hours of fun for both you and your cats.

I ordered this as a gift. The item in the picture showed a blue & orange Sqwirmles and the was no option to select other colors. I purchased this specifically for the blue but when it arrived there was no blue. Green and orange are cute but I'm disappointed that my gift fell short.

These little chenille worms are great. I had worms like this when I was a kid and was so happy to find them for my son. In the pack you get one "normal" sized worm and one "baby" sized worm. They are attached to a thin clear piece of fishing line type string. Like other reviewers have said, this line does break quite easily. However, you can just tie regular fishing line on the end of the worm and it is good as new. You would be surprised how much entertainment kids and adults alike can get from these little guys. Basically they are a cheap, fun, toy for all ages to enjoy!

This is fun toy and is just like the original one from years pass. It is great to teach kids about puppets and magic tricks so I would recommend each kid get a chance to check this out. The quality is surprising good for this and it comes with containers to hold the worms when you are done. So this has lasted for several months so far.

In my opinion this is one of the stupidest toys a kid could ever want however every kid that I know that has tried this product absolutely loves it. My daughter has purchased squirm old about eight times in the last two years and she's 10 years old it's mind-boggling that something so simple can entertain a 10-year-old and now she's got my five-year-old hooked. It's super cute and it keeps them entertained for more than an hour which most products and toys for kids that cost 10 times the amount of this product can even keep them entertained for five minutes so I'm sold!

I don't have children yet, I have cats! These are the best cat toys ever! All 3 of my cats, especially my stray that I adopted from outside, love this toy to death! They love chasing me as I drag these behind me and run around. I put them away when I'm not playing with them, because they will choke on the string. Actually, the thread is not "cat sturdy" so I break it off and tie a thicker thread around it. But again, cats will choke on string, so I only let them play with these when I'm around to watch. They only seem to really like them when I make them move.

My 10 year old autistic son, like many autistic children, got hooked on wanting an old school Sqirmle. So we finally bought one for him, much to his excitement! They are exactly like the ones us 40-somethings had many years ago, except the fact that the VERY fine "fishing line" gets tangled super, super easily!! Frustrating.

Cats love these crazy little fuzzy worms. The Squirmles are durable too. They last about 6 months with my cat, maybe not as long if you have more than one cat. I give them to my friends who have cats too and they say their cats go nuts over them too. This is a nostalgic toy from the 70's, kids find them fun too. I'm glad they are making a comeback and glad that I can find them on Amazon. Before I always found them at zoo gift-shops so my kitties would get a gift when I got back home! Great little gift for kitties and kiddies. 5 star gift here at a reasonable price.
