Perfect minimalistic rod for adventuring
This baby is the bare minimum you need to fish. Light, stealth, elegant in design, well-made, and effective. I hike back country and it's just what I wanted.

Amazing strength in a tiny rod!!
If I had any doubts about the strength of this rod, my last catch completely dispelled them. While fishing off a pier at Lake Raven in Huntsville TX (known for having alligators), I caught a little bass and was working him around the end of the pier with no problems. All of a sudden, a 12 ft alligator crashed through the water and snatched my fish, hook and line. The tenkara rod was bent in a solid C shape. I managed to get the hook out of the fish while the gator was swimming off with him just in time to keep him from breaking all of it. This tenkara rod stood up to catching an ALLIGATOR!! Unreal, I'm very impressed and much more confident at pulling in smaller catches. Attached is a picture of the alligator that stole my fish.Update 6/7/23:Since the alligator incident, I've caught several perch and small bass. The rod is holding up nicely with no ill effects of a 30 second fight with the gator. It's my go to rod even though I have 2 other tenkara rods. I use the Aventik furled lines with this rod, they are buttery slick and a dream to cast. 😊

Excellent Tenkara Rod
With many competitive rods costing over twice as much, I was very surprised by the quality. I haven't cast many Tenkara rods except at trade shows and expos, but wanted to try one in real fishing environments to see if I liked the experience. I took a gamble and bought this one for a friend as a b'day gift. We rigged it up and took it out on a high mountain brookie stream in Wyoming and was impressed with the accuracy, sensitivity, lightness and overall performance. We didn't catch anything over 10" that day, but the rod performed as well as any we'd cast before at the indoor casting pools at the trade shows. Maybe in a side-by-side comparison with the more expensive brands you would see a difference, but for the purpose of experiencing the Tenkara rod in real fishing scenarios, I don't think you would be disappointed. I'm getting one for myself and will continue to explore more about this technique alongside my traditional fly fishing trips.

Check the bottom cap when you get it.
Very pleased with the quality. The rod feels great in your hand and is feather light. The port on the bottom cap was large enough to allow the top section of the rod to slip out of the bottom. I sealed it with some UV resin, you could use a lot of things, but it needs some kind of attention before you take it it out. Mine overextends a little on the joint between the third and fourth sections, but I think it's just a minor defect. I simply push it back in a little before use. Caught a few nice fish with it already. So far it has stood up to some vicious battles.

Nice, simple rod at a great price.
I already have a 12' Tenkara but wanted a 9 footer for fishing some tiny little creeks, but the 9' was not available, so I ordered the 12' and took three of the sections off, simple enough to do. I'm very satisfied with this rod at both 9' and 12' at half the cost of others. I use mine for trout, smallmouth and largemouth bass and panfish. If you're curious about Tenkara, give this one a try, the 6:4 is a versatile light action, match it with a section of #2 or 3 weight fly line or buy a Tenkara line and you're set. Tenkara fishing is as simple as you can get, and the rod packs down small enough that you can take it everywhere. If you already fish a fly rod give one of these a try.

Rod broke on first use.
Used once for around 3 hours. Landed 6 or so trout, all around the size in the picture. Hooked a larger one and one of the middle sections of the rod split.Overall great while it lasted but for $50 it should last longer than 3 hours

Excellent Tenkara rod for the $$$.
My son learned to cast with this rod in less than 5 minutes. After several creek fish, he gives 2 enthusiastic thumbs up for this product. For the compact size, weight, action, and spare parts included, there is not a rod at this price point that comes close in quality. Features from higher price point rods such as a rotating, microswivel lilian and an offset drain in the bottom plug set it apart from the rest of the pack. The grip also is textured slightlythe same as some more expensive tenkara rods. You are not paying for a flashy finish but there are aesthetically pleasing qualities to its finish. The rod has no issues telescoping to length nor does it have issues collapsing back to a small, portable form. Durable enough for your children to make memories with, but lighter than most entry level tenkara rods.
