smoky, spicy, sweet kick to elevate just about anything
Wow. First time I tried Berbere was a quick marinade rub of olive oil, spice, salt & pepper on chicken breast. Butterflied on cast-iron skillet served with simple salad. Incredible. Loved it on shrimp tacos w/ mango salsa. And finally the true test was serving it for Thanksgiving sprinkled on deviled eggs in place of paprika. This stuff is amazing. Reminiscent of flavors you know but presented in a complex mix that can adapt to all types of dishes. Smokey, spicy and an almost sweet kick in the pants.

Harissa without salt! YES!!
This is the harissa I reach for - we don't add a lot of salt, so this makes for wonderfully flavorful dishes that aren't too salty.

Delicious and healthy addition to Vegan Recipes
Got a recipe off of Youtube via "Tish Wonder" wanting to switch up my diet, so she uses Egyptian Dukka in this recipe for breakfast baked eggs, a shaksuka of sorts, instead of the spicy tomatoes and harrisa, she used any variety or mix of mushrooms, with shallots, garlic, dukka, spinach and fresh eggs placed in the well of mushroom and spinach mixture. Then place them in a preheated 350° oven for 3 mins to set. The dukka adds such depth of flavor and gives this dish a meaty flavor without the meat. You'll enjoy addiding it to everything, salads, soups and I have another breakfast dish I add it to, it's a potatoes and zucchini hash with sweet red peppers, red onions and garlic 1 Tbsp dukka spice with 1/2 tsp smoked paprika, Wow fantastic. Recipes can be found on YouTube and Instagram by "Tish Wonder" quick and easy vegen recipes that are satiating, and filling.

Delightful Blend!
Reading the negative reviews, I might not have tried this blend. But we have had it for months now, and it's truly delightful. It's not particularly hot or overly spicy in any one spice. What it does for meat is outstanding. I use this to make Char Siu from pork belly, and it's just WONDERFUL! I've had so many complements on "my" Five Spice blend, and I always recommend this particular brand. Incidently, I love the can but it went into a regular spice jar immediately, just for ease of storage. I'm wondering if the person who had problems with mold kept it in the tin and stored it in a damp place in their kitchen... Enough of the negatives, though. For me there have been none. I'd recommend this Five Spice Blend without hesitation!

Moroccan Harissa Spice Blend from The Silk Road ... YES! .... I LIKE THIS FLAVOR!
After my initial test of the Moroccan Harissa Spice Blend, I used the recipe on the back tin and made Harissa Chicken thighs with root veggies (Beets, Butternut squash, mini-potatoes etc.). It came out nice and juicy, caramelized, and absolutely delicious!IMHO, the Silk Road Harissa blend isn’t “HOT” relative to the Scoville scale, but I would describe this as having a nice complex flavor with a well-balanced blend of spices to it.I added a little of my own chili pepper blend and made a paste to give it a heat boost, but that’s only because I enjoy spicy foods with Heat.I would reorder this again. It saves me the trouble/time of making my own Harissa. My only wish is that Silk Road offer a larger size of their Harissa Blend! (Did you get that Silk Road? … Larger size please!).Before anyone asks, the following information is listed on the product tin:100% Natural, No SALT, No Sugar, No Preservatives, Gluten Free Ingredients, Vegan, Non-GMO.Hand Roasted & Ground in small batches in Missoula, Montana. Quick & Easy meal recipe (under 25 minutes) on back.Ingredients: Cumin, chile pepper, caraway, cinnamon, cayenne pepper.Regards!

Intriguing additon
I have purchased this repeatedly. I use it in homemade salad dressings. It adds depth to any salad which includes fresh or dried fruit. It plays well with mint. I also add it to sautéed spinach and curry dishes, especially lamb curry. I layer it with the classic Spice Islands yellow curry. Sweet, deep and bright flavors mingle in this mix. The round tin it comes in is functional and keeps the product fresh.
