good for short people
I was looking for a pole for a short person since I am only 5 ft. Almost all the adjustable poles available are the telescoping kind. I don't trust them since one collapsed under a friend, and my wrists are not strong enough to tighten the sections sufficiently. This pole has 5 holes at the top of the pole and a button that pops into whichever hole gives you the correct length. Once the button is in the hole, you have to depress it to lengthen or shorten the pole. There is no twisting involved to adjust the pole. This is the only pole like this that I have found. I also like the fact that it folds, and that when it is folded is small enough to fit into a small backpack.

A real blessing!
After a long illness, this pole has been a real boon in helping me regain my strength and stability. Because of the grip, It doesn’t fold quite as compactly as I’d hoped, but is small and light enough to tote in a large purse when it’s not in use. I wish I’d ordered extra caps for the tip because it’s getting a lot of use inside as well as on pavement, where the steel tip isn’t the best choice. The steel tip and mud basket are great when walking on dirt, though. It’s easy to adjust length. I’m 5’4” and am most comfortable at the middle setting on the short version.

The short length is just right for a short person like me.
I am 4'10" and this hiking stick works well. I bought the pole as an experiment. I am an avid scuba diver and almost all my dives begin at a rocky shore. At 71 I am not as flexible as I once was and I wondered if a folding walking stick would give me the additional stability I wanted for entry and exit at the shore. This one worked perfectly! I used it for 2 weeks, diving almost every day and it performed every time. I added a velcro strap to the upper part of the pole that I use to secure the pole in the folded position and then attach it to my BC during my dive. I simply open it up after returning for an easier exit out of the water. It has been 4 months since my last dive and there appears to be no rust on the pole and it continues to open and close without a problem. I also use the pole for its intended use on land for hikes and it functions well. The short length is just right for a short person like me.

Perfect for the urban jungle
I have almost a mile hike up and down some very steep city streets to get to work. The inclines were killing my knees, so I got this to help take some of the pressure off of them.It has been wonderful. I highly recommend this product.I'm 5' 2" and it was adjustable to the perfect hight for me. It also folds up quickly and easily so I can put it away when I get on a bus. (When folded it fits nicely into the outside umbrella pocket on my backpack.) And just because it folds easily, doesn't mean it is flimsy or unstable. When deployed, it withstands all of my weight on it and doesn't buckle.I bought replacement tips at the same time I purchased the pole, but I haven't needed them yet.

Great walking stick
Love this walking stick. Folds small enough to place in large purse. Only negative is that you need to use sleeve provided or rubber band as will not stay folded without some restraint.

WOW, WOW, WOW!!!
I am a 64 year old female, not in shape! I bought 2, and they are my "Trekking Poles." I love them! They made going for a walk from something I dread, to a time I look forward to! This may sound weird, but i feel like I'm gliding along, with no effort whatsoever! And, because of the motion, you are giving yourself an Upper Body workout at the same time!!!

Short and (almost) sweet
It is almost impossible to find an inexpensive collapsible trekking pole for shorter people, so I decided to give this one a try. I have been using wood walking sticks for tours around the neighborhood and shopping, but wanted something collapsible that I could stick in my purse and out of the way when I didn’t need to use it. (I’ve lost several wood walking sticks because I put them down to free my hands while shopping or eating, then forgot to retrieve them.)The EarthTrekGear Collapsible Adjustable pole is sturdy, easy to open and fold, and comes with a nice ripstop drawstring bag and a clear vinyl snap-top bag, either of which can be used for pole protection when carried or stored. Although the description says the pole folds to 12”, the user instructions tell you how to reduce the length another inch, so it can really be folded to 11”.See additional pictures not included for this listing with the description of the longer pole listing. The pole length is easily adjusted with a pushbutton. However, I’ve found on other devices with this type of length adjustment that the button breaks easily and can be accidentally pushed so the length adjusts unintentionally and is not reliable for holding a lot of weight. I wish I had noticed the pictures on the other listing before buying. The grip is rubber so gets sweaty. The grip is also smaller, shorter, and less comfortable to hold than my other trekking poles. I don’t know if the small grip size is standard for this brand pole or if they assumed that shorter people have smaller hands. I don’t. The wrist strap is too short to use – an extremely silly and unsatisfactory design/cost-cutting decision. Also, this pole is heavy at 12 oz., almost 50 percent heavier than other aluminum poles – a significant weight if you intend to use or carry it for long periods of time.In summary, I love the short collapsed size and ease of use. I will keep it in the car for short excursions, but continue looking for a lighter pole with a better fit for my longer treks and travel.Update – 10/31/2016I ordered another one of these as a gift for a friend who liked my pole. They have changed the style slightly. The older pole I originally reviewed has an interesting rippled texture which I like (and you may still be able to see in the graphic of the folded pole); the newer version of the pole is smooth, as pictured in the graphic of the assembled pole. Although not as aesthetically interesting as the older pole, the newer version weighs only 10.5 oz. – a much more acceptable weight to carry. They have also increased the wrist strap to a useable length – yea! The grip is still sweaty, heavy rubber and too short for comfort on long walks, but add 1/2 star to my original review – someone is actually listening!

Packs small for travel
I am 5’ 2” so this is great for me. Lightweight and fold up small (fits into the water bottle pouch on my small backpack) but feels sturdy enough to provide me the extra stability I need.
