Field: Nocturnes & Other Short Piano Pieces [ABRSM]: [including Nocturne in A] (Signature Series (ABRSM))

I bought this for a friend. Also I bought a fuller version. In the end she felt this arrangement was almost too simplified. For myself, this is the book I would have gone with.

A nice easy playing collection.The binding a bit stiff, making turning pages less flowing.

Without a doubt, this is the best current book of Field's piano music you can get. While more comprehensive books exist of his complete Nocturnes, they're all just reprints of the old editions and therefore the engraving and printing looks very dated, and in some cases, are very poor quality. This book is to my knowledge the first contemporary edition of Field's music which is newly engraved and takes into account multiple sources (countless editions/versions of Field's music exist).It contains a nice variety of pieces including some of his nocturnes, waltzes, and a march; as well as a balance of easier and harder pieces. It's formatted beautifully and any editorial additions are clearly differentiated from the original text. All in all, I'm very happy with this book and would highly reccomend.
