F.M.Brown'S Encore Gourmet Parrot Food, Net Wt 4 Lb

This is used in my cockatoos diet. Along with many other combinations. She loves it! This makes me happy because now she doesn’t throw it at my 3 shihtzus

I have a very picky red-bellied parrot and he loves this mix. I almost sent it back at first because I didn't see very many fruit pieces in it, even after mixing it around from outside the package, but I decided to open it up and there is a lot of variety. Not as much fruit as I was hoping for, but I read that the reason these bags don't have a lot of fruit is because the sulfur-based preservatives for the fruits are bad for birds. It would be nice if they didn't use these, since the primary purpose is to preserve color, but I guess they just provide what is available for cheap. Lots of larger seeds, almonds, peanuts, and chili peppers. Very few pellets, which my parrot never eats anyway. Very good food, and a great price.

My Goffin Cockatoo really likes it.

I gave this a try since I havn't been able to get the normal Kaytee food I normally purchase. If you have smaller birds like a Conure or maybe a smaller Amazon parrot this might be okay but if you have larger birds like a macaw or a cockatoo like I have, you might not like this mixture. Why? the mixture is made up mostly of small seeds, some sunflower seeds and a few peanuts. I wouldn't recommend this for larger birds.

Looks pretty healthy unfortunately we are out birds 4th owner and she has some bad eating habits so she's pretty picky about what she likes and a lot of the healthy (carrot chips etc) end up on the bottom of her cage.Kind of surprised doesn't appear there are too many if any nuts in this bag..

This is much better than their [non-Gourmet] Encore Parrot Food, and worth the extra couple bucks.This "Gourmet" bag includes banana chips, more peanuts, and more other nuts that my African Senegal actually eats.I see the cost as equivalent or cheaper, because less is thrown away.

As long as my bird loves it, I will continue to order. Plus I do add a little something special to it once in awhile to add interest.

I mix a little of this with either Zupreem or Harrisons coarse and my African Grey is a happy camper. I tried to not feed him seeds at all but he screamed and plucked himself, so a little bit of this each day keeps us both sane.
