Noren, 暖簾, is a traditional Japanese curtain for doors, windows and rooms. It consists of fabric strips, which are sewn together at the upper hem and protects against the sun and wind. The materials are mostly provided with traditional motives and are often so striking as that the Noren can be also used as a decorative wall picture. This Noren shows a motive of a circle hand painted with ink "Ensō". As a Symbold from the Zen Buddhism it stands among other things for the enlightenment and the universe, for strength, elegance and harmony. The motive is general also symbol for the Japanese aesthetics.
