My original garage light a sodium vapor 50 watt unit abruptly stopped working. After determining it was not the light, I realized I had to replace the unit. I settled on this LED unit because it was available. Now some things to be aware of about this unit. The unit id designed to attach to a metal junction box. If you have this it is quick and easy to install and seal against the weather. If you do not and cannot mound one on your wall, it is far more challenging to install and seal against the weather. That is what I had to do. This involved drilling through the inside frame and screwing the unit to the wall.. Plus the extra challenge sealing this setup. The light from the LEDs is not as warm as sodium vapor. Finally, the LED is not replaceable so when it goes the unit goes.

I bought two of these for a farm owner who was tired of replacing light bulbs using a ladder and we liked the results so much I bought one for myself. It sat around for 4 years but when I installed it, it worked so well I bought another one about a month ago. They have cheapened them up a bit, the base is now plastic instead of metal and the reflector is flat instead of wavy. But it still works great and they run every night. Most important, it draws only 19 watts and replaces a metal-halide fixture using 200 watts so it will pay for itself in energy cost. It's still plenty bright, lights up the yard all the way to the edge so you can see where you're going. A bonus feature not mentioned: When installed above or to the side of a door, a bright strip of light illuminates the door so you can easily see your keys. A VERY nice feature which I greatly appreciate and they don't call attention to it.

That's what sold me. It goes right where the old one did. The old one's seals failed after 12 years, filled with water, and shorted out. Nasty. It's clear plastic lens looked like the headlight on a Toyota Sienna parked for twelve years facing south in Casa Grande, Arizona. I give this one about the same life expectancy. It's not sexy. It's not landscape lighting. It's functional, bright, garish, and when mounted higher than eye level, will burn right into your retina. If you want to light up the parts cage where your pit bull patrols at night or blind an annoying neighbor. This will work fine. Seriously, Lithonia, could you diffuse the light a little in this thing. You have spent all of maybe one day's lunch money in R & D on this old product when you updated it to LED. Would it kill you to improve it a little? Still, I'm buying nine more for my property . It looks good in the daytime and I don't work at night.

Fit and finish was perfect

This light is so chic and stylish. Easy to install without any issues. Knockout was easy to pop out too in the back of the light. Use a 1/2 drill bit to drill out the knock out center use a chisel carefully tap the edge of knock out to make an easy 3/4 inch hole.

Great Yard Light.Here in BC on the dark rainy days it will come on early but cheap to run.
