Land of Enchantment appeared on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post on December 22nd, 1934. This painting reminds us of the magical places a good story can take us where we can become whatever our imaginations desire. Norman Rockwell was one of America's leading artists. He chose to tell the story of the American dream, the detail of a simpler time, painted with warmth and humor. He tapped into the nostalgia of the American people with paintings that were often idyllic and expressed enthusiasm for the ordinary. In 1916, he created the first of 321 covers for The Saturday Evening Post. Rockwell's Americana images were loved by the public then and now but not always embraced by critics. The artist created World War II posters garnering support for the WWII and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977.
