No taste
Love my water bottle with the life straw. I take it everywhere knowing I'll have access to clean water should I need to refill somewhere.

Worked well
This worked really well while we travelled. We only really used bottled water in it because we took it to Uganda. You can’t drink the water there.

Great filter for price minus one flaw they will fix
UPDATE: took this to South America and it worked great! It was so handy to ALWAYS have water when I needed it even in the hotel when I didn’t wanna spend five dollars a bottle or there was no place to buy water nearby. I got in the habit of carrying to water bottles in my Daypack so I had this one plus one I purchased. Well, this was extremely handy, I did like having an extra safe bottle of water that I could use for toothbrush washing or is this when you have to suck and squirt lol.One star because of the leakage tissue, but make sure you do NOT fill up much past the top line. The filter will push the water up, and then it leaks for sure. Otherwise it seemed to be pretty good so I’m not sure whether it was my great taping job or filling it up too high.I purchased this because I’m traveling to South America where the water is questionable and to avoid getting Andes’revenge ha ha. I have been using a Britta for US travel and Europe. For the price, this is an awesome filter. The competitors’ were so much more money, so I’m really happy that this is affordable. Seems to work great and is incredibly lightweight for what I expected. I put in tapwater and it got rid of the horrible taste but note…BE SURE to test it with 6 ounces of water first because it initially tasted off, plastic-y and that’s what the manufacturer said. I’m not sure that was obvious in the instructions. It’s a slow sipper because it’s filtering while you are sipping, but that’s to be expected. The nice thing is having the option of filling it with non potable water.Only issue is it does leak; however, I did find a workaround (yay!), and I did speak with them and they are working on fixing this. I used this tape below. Not a sticky as gaffer tape although that might work well too, but this is thinner but seals well.Love the different colors. I purchased purple. You don’t usually get that from a recently priced item like this.

A Must Have for Travel Abroad
I purchased the SurviMate filtered water bottle for myself and my son for a recent trip to Costa Rica. My only regret is not making this purchase sooner. We bought 1 bottled water throughout our entire 2 week trip. Our SurviMate water bottles saved us money and decreased the amount of plastic waste during our trip. We would fill out water bottles each morning with tap water from our hotel room and refill at various places throughout the day...public bathrooms, changing areas by national parks, restaurant washrooms, etc.Even though most of the tap water in Costa Rica is safe for human consumption, it has a distinct mineral taste. The SurviMate filtered water bottle was able to filter out that taste.Another advantage to the SurviMate filtered water bottle is it fits perfectly in a standard side pocket on a backpack or travel bag. The clip came in handy for my son during our hikes on hot days so he could fasten the water bottle to his cargo shorts/pants and leave the backpack behind.***Important note for first-time users...there will be a blackish coloring to the water during the first several sips you take when using this water bottle for the very first time. Don't panic. It's due to the activated charcoal in the filtered straw. I would suggest sucking & then spitting the water out for the first several sips. The water was clear by the 6th sip in both bottles we bought. You will not experience this issue again unless you replace the filter with a new one.

Good bottle, expensive filters
Nice bottle, to bad the filters cost so much. But that seems like others are doing the same.

Probably better for hiking than travel
Bottle leaks if it isn't kept in the up right position even with the straw down. I also have found it difficult to suck the water through the filter, which I assume is common with filtered water bottles. It is a nice bottle and these issues probably wouldn't bother me if I was out hiking without clean water available but they are an inconvenience in othe travel situations, that should be considered.

Filtered
Felt safer drinking water while traveling abroad, knowing the water was filtered. Had a little bit of a charcoal taste initially but this seem to improve with use.
