Reed & Barton 50Mb Eureka Mahogany Flatware Chest

The Reed and Barton Flatware Chest 44C in Bristol Cherry/Brown is excellent for the price. The tarnish-proof lining works well. You can feel the tight seal when closing the top, keeping out the air. It would have been better if the slots that hold the knives on the lid had an extra bendable band to keep the knives from falling out when holding the top at an angle. That doesn’t stop me from recommending this flatware chest, giving it 5 *s.

Loved the wood! A little nervous the knife part may break off- just a little flimsy. Other than that love it!

I love this silver storage chest. It is authentic Reed & Barton. Don’t settle for cheap off brand. It is a beautiful cherrywood, sturdy and holds my service for 16 plus additional serving pieces. The knives and drawer storage sections are well intact. This will be handed down for generations. Thank you!!

I like everything about this chest, but worry that the holder for the knives will come unglued. That is the only thing that I would wish to change on this flatware chest. Otherwise, wonderful!!! And beautiful!

I’ve looked at this chest for a long time and finally decided to buy one. My sterling collection has grown, and I want to have my pieces together and easily visible. I received the mahogany one. The model is 43M and it's lovely. The unit arrived in perfect shape. I examined the composition with a hand lens, and it is a good wood veneer over MDF. I replaced the tiny footie bumpers with ¾” ones so I can lift it more easily. I lined the bottom of both the top section and top drawer with tarnish cloth so I'll have no tarnish worries. I also keep desiccant packs with my silver since I often open the chest. INTERIOR measurements are in inches - Top Section:13 5/8 wide, 10 ¼ deep, 2 5/8 high (including the lid). The slots are 3/8 wide & 1 3/8 holding height. I fit 12 cream soup spoons in one. The knife section is 10 3/8 high with 5/8 individual width. These easily held modern and French blade knives (9 ¼). The spreader slots accommodate my hollow handle style. Both drawers are 12 ¾ wide and 9 ¼ deep. The height is 1 5/8. The top drawer’s slots are 3/8 wide & 1 high. The bottom drawer’s partitions are 2 3/8 wide with a side height of 3/4. This allows wider servers to be placed at an angle. There is also room to store a piece greater than 9 ¼ by balancing it on top of the partitions. I think that balancing the middle section (top drawer) on the lowest section (pull them both out) will save wear and tear on the slide supports when I need something from the middle section. There is a bottom - thin hardboard, I think. See my photos. I know I’m going to have fun playing with this lovely piece. I wonder how many ways I can organize my flatware.

I recently inherited some silverware and needed a safe place to put it since I don’t have enough drawer space in my kitchen. This is great. Solidly made, room for all my silverware. Haven’t had it long enough to judge the tarnish-reducing quality of the material, but it is made of the same material as my mom’s silverware cabinet so I have high hopes.

Box A held the chest and Styrofoam packing. Box B held Box A and more packing. Box C (yes, there there three boxes) held Boxes A and B. Good job. It arrive undamaged. It's a beautiful silver chest. I have service for eight plus some serving pieces, and some odd pieces, like an engraved "cold meat fork." Everything fit nicely.

Received this in record time wasn't supposed to be delivered until Friday - arrived Tuesday! Simply gorgeous - worth every penny. Nicer in person than in the pictures. You won't be disappointed - can't wait for the flatware to arrive so I can use the storage chest. Well done Amazon! Would highly recommend.
