A stone that has a good value
First of all, this stone is true to grit. As a matter of fact, it may even outperform its grit rating. Although rated at 1000 grit, it feels like a 2000 even 3000 grit in sharpening, and produce an edge as such. The stone is very dense. I can't say that it is hard, but it definitely won't dish as fast as other stones. In turns of cutting power, it sits somewhere between a resinoid stone and a magnesia stone, meaning it may not be that fast albeit being faster than some of the slowest.Overall, it is a good stone with an emphasis on value. You are getting a 2000+ grit edge on a 1000 grit stone. However, it is not for me because the stone I am looking for is one packed with a heck of raw cutting power. Something made simple with precisely graded abrasive with little or no filler material and a vitrified bond will do for me.

The one stone to have if you can only have one.
Terrific stone, if I could only have one, this one would be it. Cuts fast enough to fix problems (with patience and work), sharpens great, lighten up and taper your direction changes at the end, and the edge you get will strop out to sharp enough for most any work. Much sharper than you would expect for 1000 grit. Tried it on an old Wilkinson Sword chefs knife that had been damaged by a draw through carbide knife destroyer, cleaned up the waves and jagged edge, now nice and smooth - sharper than any stainless knife I've ever done. Does Xacto blades sharper than factory, and wood carving knives (what I really wanted it for) actually better than factory. Now I'm almost sorry I went for the Chosera 3000 as a polisher, truth be told, I don't really need it,The Cerax 1000 rocks!

Moderate cutting power for me
I get what I paid for for 41 including shipping. I got nothing to complain. It's a true 1K stone. Someone must have really upset it because this bugger is a soaker. I had to soak 10-15 min. Compared to those small Edge pros i got back 5 years ago from Ben direct. Those suck water fast only had 3-5 min ready to go.Once you give it a drink it will go to work without complain. I had hope for faster cutting but the price aside King stone can be cheaper you just dont get better stone.Like to get metal stuck in there but easy to wash off if not I got plenty Nagura stone for me that's not a bother. (used King 8K Nagura or one came with Kitiyama, works great)Unless I used lots of Nagura I can hardly get slurry outta this stone. Something to consider, if that's your liking. Not gonna replace your Chosera or Shapton. However you get what is paid for. You have no time but money can spare get Chosera or Shapton forget about ever finding another stone. For the price and product. I would definitely choose this over King. Not that king is bad. Suehiro Cerax is just more real estate over King and I sharpen a lot.Seller that sold me is a big plus too. Protected the stone with extra bubble wrap. I have not complain at all.

Great stone at any price point
This is one of the better stones I have ever used, granted I'm not super experienced in the whetstone area, I came off of diamond plates and went into a king 1k, suehiro oka 3k, and suehiro rika 5k...to be honest I expected a bit more agressiveness as the 3k seems super fast cutting for its grit, but the cerax is still much faster than the king, I would say it is true to grit in my limited experience, and I used it to sharpen a 59 rockwell knife and a 62 rockwell knife, and it seemed maybe a little slower on the 62, but it didn't seem to have any problem with it, I like the feel of the stone, while it is a soaker, it seemed like 5-10 minutes is more than enough (I did soak it for an hour or 2 first day, which appeared to be way too much as the cutting experience was much less aggressive, to the point where i thought i had made a mistake), I strongly suggest not perma soaking it

Incredible Stone, Couldn't be happier
This stone is incredible! It comes in a beautiful very high quality box. It has a silicone "base" that comes with it. A nagura stone and several instructions in Japanese.Using the stone for the first time I was immediately impressed by the feel of the knife on the stone. Very responsive feel. Even the sound it makes is better than any stone I've used, it's hard to describe what I mean by this. I was developing a burr much more quickly than on my King stone, way quicker. I've sharpened my Shun classic chef and paring knife on it and just love it.The polish it leaves is gorgeous. The stone cuts super quickly even on higher Rockwell rated steel. I have been finishing my kitchen knives on this grit level and I love the way they cut. Leaves a very responsive edge on the knife that grabs things like tomato skins instantly.I waited for a while to buy this stone and o shouldn't have hesitated. I'm able to sharpen more quickly and produce better results but that could just be because I keep practicing

Best wetstone ever!
I bought two Suehiro CERAX soaking whetstones in 1000 and 5000 size grit. I have always used hardware store whetstones and never could get a good edge on knifes. My wife had expensive German kitchen knifes and I could never get them sharp. I was going to buy her new knives and after some internet searching, I heard about the Suehiro CERAX whetstones and decided to give them a try. WOW, the first knife I sharpened after following the directions was sharper than when new. I could run that knife along the edge of a sheet of paper and it easily sliced off thin slices of paper. It sliced through difficult to cut food like tomatoes as thin slices that you could see through. I went crazy and started sharpening every knife we owned and now with occasional touch up sharpening our knives perform like a Samurai katana. These whetstones are amazing and the delivery service was over night. Amazon Prime delivery is fantastic. A few weeks ago I ordered a product at 3 PM and when I woke the next morning the package was sitting at my front door.
