Somehow my charger was lost. This charger charges my lithium ion batteries for a drill that is many years old. Despite this. The charger works.

Couldn't find a battery for under $100 and a charger under a hundred bucks. I got a battery and charger for under $60

We purchased this thinking that it would be a good replacement for the more expensive Dewalt battery and charger and after leaving it on the charger for 10 hours, it was still not charged. This does not work. You are better off sticking with the original brand and pay the extra money.

The first thing I noticed about this battery and charger is that they both had a bad smell to them when I first took them out of the plastic. I'm hoping that it will dissipate over time, especially since it says in the manual that it is to only be used indoors.Speaking of the manual, it is almost non-existent. Except for a few safety warnings, the manual has almost no useful information at all. For instance, I had to come back to the page where I ordered it and look at the pictures to even know what the lights mean. It has a picture on the side of the charger that is supposed to illustrate what the lights mean, but good luck trying to interpret that tiny little postage stamp sized graphic.I can't seem to find any official specs for this charger anywhere, but from the best I can tell, this seems to be a clone of the DeWalt model DCB112 charger. If this is the case, this is a 1.5 amp charger. This means it is a very slow charger. In comparison, the "fast" DeWalt charger charges at 8 amps. This is a huge difference in charging speed. On the upside, this charger will also charge the 12v DeWalt batteries, which the fast charger won't, so there is a trade-off.Another advantage to this slow charger versus a fast charger is that this one is smaller and easier to store, so there is that to consider as well. Slow charging batteries also makes them last for more charge cycles because they don't get as hot while charging. So long as you plan ahead, and have plenty of extra batteries to do the job, slow charging is not such a bad thing.Even though this is a slow charger, it is a versatile one, because it will charge 12v, 20v and 60v DeWalt batteries. If you have a DeWalt battery, this will probably charge it.This charger and battery set have a lot to offer, and represent a good value for the money, so long as you don't need the benefits of a fast charger. If you are looking for an off-brand alternative to the overpriced brand-name batteries and chargers, this one is worthy of your consideration.
