One of the greatest books I have ever read!
The book that I read was “Zero Tolerance” by Claudia Mills. This book was published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR) (June 18, 2013). In my opinion this was a very good book. Kids good relate to this situation because mistakes happen to everyone. This book has a very good beginning and ending. The plot is very good and relatable. It is a very easy read and not to difficult to understand. I really enjoyed reading it and would recommend it to people from the ages of 9-13. I think that a boy or a girl would enjoy this book. This book took place at Long Wood Middle School. The book starts in the middle of the school year. Sierra Shepard is a 7th grader at Long Wood Middle School, straight A student and just the perfect kid everyone wants to be. She is a little shy, popular and never gets in trouble. She is the main character of the book. Luke Bishop is a troublemaker and not the kid you would want to become friends with. Or so Sierra thinks. Luke has a kind heart, but never reveals it to others, except for Sierra.Mr. Bessler is the principal at Longwood Middle School. He is a strict man and will not give in to anything that involves the Zero Tolerance rule. One day Sierra is in a rush to school to ask the principal a very important question. She accidently grabs her mother’s lunch box by mistake. When it is time for lunch Sierra and her friends are sitting around the table about to open up their lunch boxes. When Sierra opens up her lunch box she sees a knife and realizes that it is her mother’s lunch box. Sierra turns in the knife to the lunch lady thinking it is the right thing to do. Sierra is sent to the principal's office and is sent to an in school suspension. That is where she meets Luke. Luke and her became very good friends. Mr. Bessler thinks that Sierra should be expelled but everyone thinks that it is not a good idea. As I said earlier I would recommend this book from the ages of 9-13. I would give this book a 9 out of 10 rating. I really loved this book and would definitely read this book again! I think that anyone would really love this book no matter if you are a boy or girl. this books leaves you with satisfaction. It leaves you wondering the whole whether or not Sierra will be expelled or be able to go back to school. What do you think will happen to Sierra? Will she be expelled or be able to come back to school? Do you think Sierra did the right thing, by turning it into the lunch lady or do you think she should have just kept it in her lunch box? Read “Zero Tolerance” by Claudia Mills to find out!

Morals are important.
I believe this book could teach someone a very good moral. I was always told that life wasn't fair. Well I disagree because life can be fair. You just have to have confidence that you'll get what you want. This story teaches us the if you believe and hope in so wing you just might get it. I love the dynamics of the characters, it added a different spark to the story. Overall I through the this was a very well written novel.

a seventh grader that is a perfect student, Mr
The book that I read was Zero Tolerance by Claudia Mills, and published by Square Fish; Reprint edition im June 17, 2014. The main characters are Sierra, a seventh grader that is a perfect student, Mr.Besser is the principal, a disciplinarian who has to run a strict school that is one of the best in the state. The book starts out when Sierra is in the Principal's office and is trying to recommend a new plan so that late work doesn't make a permanent zero in the grade book. She is talking to Mr.Besser about this plan to help the kids that were constant trouble-makers. After she proposes this plan she goes to lunch with her friends and uncovers a knife in her lunch. She realized that this was wrong and had to turn it in because the school had a zero tolerance policy for weapons. She turned it into the lunch lady and then was sent to the principal’s office. While she was in the his office she learned that she was going to be expelled. Now to give an example of what would happen in a “normal” school, my brother brought a root beer to school that needed a bottle opener. my mom just gave him a bottle opener that we just had in a drawer. She didn't realize that the bottle opener had a knife on it. Later when my brother found the knife part he turned it into the teacher and wasn't expelled. Her dad, fortunately a lawyer, wasn't going to stand for this and wanted a hearing. Until the date of the hearing she had to sit in detention and wait with all of the trouble makers. When the trial finally happens she is so excited that she may have the chance to go to school with her friends instead of moving schools. She faces a panel of school officials that will decide whether she will be expelled or reinstated. Will she win the trial, will she go to a new school or stay at her old school? Read the book to find out. I would rate this book ⅗ stars because it was very predictable. I would recommend this book to an audience that likes realistic fiction books.

Good beginning middle school book
A gentle story about making mistakes, owning up to your mistakes, and making judgements. Sierra, the main character is pretty perfect. She is horrified to discover that she has accidentally brought a knife to school, and notifies the school authorities immediately. Her attempt to do the right thing backfires, and she finds herself facing expulsion.

I love all of Claudia Mills' books
I love all of Claudia Mills' books. But ZERO TOLERANCE was a surprise for me. A very serious subject is treated with respect and humor. Reading the book and discussing the theme with other middle schoolers would be a great group project.

For a Good Time and a Lot to Think About –
An absolute page-turner, no foolin' and I have insightful, clever Claudia Mills to thank for a sleepless night spent getting to the last page of this timely, thoughtful tale. Once done, I shared it with a young, reluctant reader - who promptly INHALED this wonderful book. .
