Allende is an excellent writer, with evocative descriptions and good characterizations. This trio of novels is interesting and not at all painful to read. The big problem is that the characters get into situations that are really hard to swallow. The first book is the best, but it is unrealistic that the grandson is taken on a very dangerous adventure in South America by his grandma. The second book has the two teen protagonists in the Himalayas, and they get to be in on every exciting adventure despite the lack of a compelling reason to be there. (Plus they get to travel with a monkey without quarantining it on international travels.) The third book is the most difficult to accept. The group goes on a jaunt into deepest, darkest Africa on a whim, with no planning at all. They really deserved to die right off the bat. The other problem with all the characters but especially the teens is that they are so morally superior that I would not have minded if they HAD died. If you can suspend your disbelief and just focus on the adventures, you can enjoy these books. I did okay until Africa.

Let's face it: magical reality writing is a difficult art and I do not think Ms. Allende ever mastered it. She has a brilliant imagination and is wonderful in her novels that stick to the real world: Hija de la Fortuna for example. Her novels are always full of interesting information about her wide raging topics and I am grateful for that. However, this trilogy that follows the adventures of a young man and woman endows the two protagonists with such improbable powers that their use as a Deus ex machina in every perilous situation is so strained and inorganic that it's laughable. The way they are plastered on the story makes this couple's inserting themselves improbably in tremendously dangerous situations not very anxiety inducing; you know they'll pull the same old tricks out of the bag and live to follow another seemingly perilous trail. The characters themselves are, as always, well drawn and interesting in themselves and I would sort of like to read a novel about these two (actually three: grandma is important also) that tells there story in real life. Please?

He disfrutado grandemente las aventuras de Águila y Jaguar, son fascinantes, además promueven la expansión de la imagínación y la creatividad.Yo, personalmente, a pesar de las fastásticas historias, disfruté sobremanera la amistad de los chicos. Eso fue lo más vivido para mí en esta trilogía.Gracias por tan atrayente escrito

The story and its.evolution of the characters are so.well presented that you overlook the lack.of objective realism and go with the.flow of the story. All ends is a great story teller.

Isabel Allende nos lleva a unos mundos fantasticos y llenos de aventuras. Me encanto......como todos sus libros no lo pude dejar de leer.

De verdad disfruto la fácil y entretenida lectura de Isabel Allende, esta trilogía la disfruté al máximo!Totalmente recomendada, para los fanáticos del misterio y lo surreal!

El libro es tal cual la recopilación de la trilogía de la ciudad de las bestias, por lo cual se lo recomiendo si no quieren adquirir los 3 libros por separados, y la verdad me encanto por que llego en buen estado y nuevo y sin problemas de paquetería ya que fue vendido y enviado por Amazon México

Estos libros los he leído en mi infancia y ahora los he añadido a mi colección digital.En mi opinión, son maravillosas obras de arte de una de las mayores exponentes del realismo mágico en toda Latinoamérica. Todavía recuerdo cómo las magistrales descripciones ayudaron a mi imaginación a explorar territorios y parajes maravillosos como si fuera el protagonista de la historia.Lo recomiendo muchísimo tanto para adultos como para niños. Son tres libros maravillosos.
