I'm pretty picky about the papers I use for markers, pencil, watercolor, inks, and paint- I like a bit of tooth, a good durable and well sized surface on both sides of the paper, and the ability to blend and layer. This paper wasn't for me- water based inks and markers absorbed right into the paper, allowing no time to blend or dilute with a wet brush, alcohol markers did not blend or show up vibrantly (absorbed), watercolors sat flat. Pencils and charcoals worked well, but not so well that it replaces any of the other papers I have that those mediums work beautifully on. Gouache and acrylic worked well on this paper with a bit of buckling- if the sketchbook was larger, I'd use it for painting.I would say this is a good sketchbook for mixed media- the paper is heavy duty, the binding is lovely, and it's a sturdy, heavy sketchbook. But if you have specific qualities that you look for in papers for mediums you use, it may or may not work for you. I tried it out because every so often a paper will shock me and I'll buy reams of it (or multiples of sketchbooks with it) because it works so surprisingly well with a lot of mediums, but this was not it.

These sketchbooks are good quality. They paper feels nice and thick and allows erasing without any issue. They feel just as good as sketchbooks that cost more for just one. We're very happy with them and highly recommend them for drawing with pencil or other dry mediums.

There's a lot to like about this sketchbook It's cover is sturdy. The paper is beautiful and thick enough to work with most mediums. It opens flat.However, the pages are warped. I don't think it is because of amazon or UPS. The sketchbook was packed securely in it's own box and then placed inside another box for shipping by Amazon. I also purchased this company's Nature Line sketchbook. It has all the assets of this one (except slightly thinner paper), but the pages of it are also warped. It has to be a manufacturing problem. Other reviewers haven't mentioned this so maybe it's not a constant problem. The paper is usable but the warping goes all the way down the page and all the pages are effected. Other than that, it's a good sketchbook, but the warping in both purchased books loses a star. Otherwise this would have been a four. I am including a picture of each sketchbook.

This is exactly the size of sketchbook I really like, plus it is sturdy, I'm not a big fan of softcovers. Perfect for me!

So this is a very nice looking sketchbook/multimedia pad. The front and back are hard, but have a bit of give to them. The paper is very smooth and thick and I plan on using it for watercolor I think. I did notice that when I got it that the front and back cover had curved a bit (most likely from high humidity) and I needed to put it under some books to get it flattened back out. The only real thing that I wish it had was a perforation near the binder part so I can more easily take out ones I am done with.
