Chose this model because of its harness system
Five stars supposedly means "I love it." I don't know if I can love a backpack sprayer, but I am totally satisfied with this purchase...so five stars. I bought this to treat my lawn, which takes up about 16,000 sq. ft. on my 3/4-acre property, after tiring of using a hand-carried 2-gal. pump sprayer. This is much better. The main reason I chose this model over other box-shaped backpack sprayers of similar capacity was its harness system. This model has shoulder straps, a waist belt with lower-back/hip pad, plus a chest strap to connect the two shoulder straps. The extra support, especially from the waist belt, really makes a big difference when you have 40-45 pounds on your back. The harness system works fine, and I'm glad I chose this model because of it. There are similar "euro-style" sprayers--Echo is or was selling the identical sprayer under its brand, but without the complete harness system--but I didn't see any others offering this much support for carrying a fully loaded sprayer around.I chose a boxy, euro-style sprayer over the more common style sprayer because I liked that there were less parts outside the tank--no external frame, and the pump is inside the box. I thought the tank might be slimmer and thus keep the weight closer to my hips and back, although I don't really know if that's the case. This sprayer has a nice, big pump, and I don't know if the regular style sprayers can contain a pump as big. I am pleased with the modest pumping effort required to use this sprayer. The pumping action is smooth and not demanding in terms of strength, and you don't need to pump constantly, because of the size of the pump.I don't really need the extra half-gallon capacity that this model sports over similar sprayers. Four-point-zero gallons is plenty of weight for me to carry around. These sprayers when empty have some heft of their own, and, the extra capacity of this model makes it a little heavier than it needs to be for my purposes. But it's not a difference that I'm aware of as I carry it around, and it's certainly more than compensated for by the complete harness system. This unit seems well made. I've sprayed my yard with it twice, and it feels like it will hold up well. All the fastenings are tight, and the action of the moving parts is smooth. The hose is of good quality, and the wand and hand control, while not premium, are also of good quality. I would mention that this sprayer wand does not take any pressure-limiting valves (that would, say, guarantee a lower pressure for spraying herbicides in order to reduce the chance for drift). I had thought that I would like to have that feature, but so far I haven't felt hampered by the lack of it. A pressure-limiting valve is much less important than watching what you're doing and not rushing things, and not spraying on a breezy day.If you're not particularly young and spry, you need to figure out how you're going to get a fully loaded sprayer of this size on your back. I could pick the sprayer up and swing it onto my back if I cared to, but I figure I don't need the extra strain when I already have 3/4 of an acre with lots of gardens to care for. I have a picnic table that I use as my loading station. The sprayer goes on the edge of the table top, and I sit on the bench to slip my arms into the shoulder straps.

Very Good Sprayer
I've had this sprayer for about 3 years now and have used it quite a bit. I think it's an excellent product overall. It pumps up easily and hold pressure very well. The wand is good and has a lock on function so you don't have to keep your thumb pressed down on the trigger. I wish there were a little more length to the hose though, but I'm on the taller size. Mine came with multiple nozzles but I don't see that listed in the description anymore. Having those nozzle choices is nice. Just know that loaded up to the full 5 gallon capacity, this thing is pretty heavy. I put it on the edge of the porch and sit down to get the sprayer onto my back easily. The harness system is designed well and really helps with the weight. It has a hip belt to take some of the load and a chest strap to keep the shoulder straps from sliding down. My gripe is the padding on the harness system is not great compared to a good backpack and I wish it were better. My other gripe is that the wand sometimes leaks after letting your thumb off the trigger. Not terribly bad, but drops do sometimes continue to fall from the nozzle. To be fair, I've used probably over a dozen different spray rigs and a little bit of leaking from the nozzle is not uncommon.

Comfortable, simple, well built, works great!
This Shindaiwa sprayer is a quality product that I expect will stand up to heavy duty use. I found it simple to assemble (contrary to the comment from another reviewer, as all that is required to assemble is the pump handle). I just sprayed a 9,000 sq. ft. yard using the fan tip, and it was quick and simple. Kept pumping every 20 seconds (one pump) or so to keep a high flow rate, but it was nearly effortless. Easier than a 1 or 2 gallon pump sprayer. Very comfortable harness; excellent quality and really liked the lumbar / waist belt and chest strap. I highly recommend this product as I believe I received good value for the cost and simple operation, after agonizing over battery powered models. Glad I went with this very good quality product although manual pump.

Perfect except hose?
This thing has good balance and seems to work flawlessly. Not sure what’s with the hose, it’s like they put just enough…not any extra. Weird. I mean it’s rubber hose, another 6” probably cost a dollar….in bulk…..weird.

Solid tool
What a great backpack sprayer! Pump is solid and you don't have to pump continuously to get constant flow. Well built and comes with spare parts. I expect this to last years and years.

Expensive, but worth it for heavy users.
Been buying commercial backpack sprayers for years. Solo, etc. are basically junk. This is well worth the price and quality. My crews are finally happy with this sprayer and so am I.
