Need two packs
I bought two packs as I wanted to make a very large family cake. I was only able to make a one layer slab cake, though, as I hadn't realised that one box would only make one layer of this cake, unlike the picture. However, the cake was dead easy to make with marg, 2 eggs and water, whisk for four mins, pop in the oven for 35 mins and bobs your uncle! Rose like a dream in the oven, and held its height after cooling down. Smells and tastes yummy too!

Packed delivered open & needs egg or egg substitute
Packet came already opened - not acceptable for a food product & disappointing service by the seller - will not be buying from them again. This product requires egg or you need to buy the manufacturer's egg substitute to bake the cake. Description didn't make that clear & too late to order egg substitute now so product is useless. Guess previous purchaser found the same & returned the packet. Total expensive fail - avoid.

You need more than you think!
Before buying these I looked everywhere to try and find how much a box yields. No luck, so I thought I would just have to do it and see, and then write the info here :) Just baked it. I used two boxes in an 8" tin, and it has risen to just under the 2" mark. I would suggest for a tall 4" cake you would need to do 3 boxes. Baked in 30 mins @ 180.I used one box for 2x 6" tins and that has risen to about 1" each, so definitely two boxes needed for that!Consistency looks good, smells good, will see what it tastes like after I have levelled and cut the dome off.Hope this helps anyone in the future.EDITED TO ADD: it was 2x 8"x2" tins. Also, just tasted it, it's AMAZING!!
