This nicely assembled collection offers an outstanding sampling of poetry in Texas, with the contributors ranging from the world famous figures like Naomi Shihab Nye to writers who may not be as familiar to most readers, but who, as their work proves, should be. Stylistically diverse, aesthetically sharp, and crisp in design and layout, the anthology is a valuable anthology of Texas writing, and a worthy addition to William Wright's Southern Poetry Anthology series. The editor has included a brief but deserved tribute to series co-editor Paul Ruffin, who died in April 2016, and whose contributions both to the series and to Texas literature were extensive and lasting. Highly recommended.
