I just wanted a new straightener to use just on my wigs since i use different products for those and my own hair.First off the design is really nice. There's no way for me to burn myself unless i purposefully put my hands on to plates since they don't go right to the edge of the lip, which is great since i do tend to get wrapped up in styling and grab where I shouldn't. It is still hot on the end of course, but you just feel heat rather than burning yourself by touching the metal.It heats up so quickly. I didn't time it but you can watch on the display screen as the degrees rise. I only used the setting up to 400 degrees F (204 C) and I took relatively small to medium sections of the hair and only had to do 1-3 quick passes depending on how thick the section was. I did use the straightener mostly air dried hair ( i used a hair dryer to get through any damp areas) and i used a heat protectant as well.I also like the automatic off safety feature that turns it off after 30 minutes, which is super helpful if you forget while working on multiple things. And since it heats up quickly, it's not like you have to wait long to get back to the job.The swivel cord is great as well so i wasn't having to fight with it to get to different angles on the wig head, and I also love the storage bag and alligator clips that came with in the box.
