CDNProAccurate® Instant Read Digital Pocket Thermometer with 2.75" Stainless Steel Tip for Accurate Temperature Measurement, Blue (DT450X-B)

Bought this for work and I was not disappointed.

This replaced an older CDN instant read thermometer that went with my son to his house. This one is very similar but MUCH slower than the original one. The description says it takes 6 seconds to read but I did a test 3x in hot water and it does not stabilize until about 10 to 12 seconds in. That's a really long time to have your oven or BBQ open, and your hand and arm getting roasted while you hold the thermometer in there.

This has so many uses.Bread making to checking the temperature of meat I am cooking.

I had this one before, but lost it during a move and had to repurchase it. Excellent. Quick read, accurate (I've checked it with other thermometers), and it has recommended temperatures printed on its sides. Highest recommendation. A very useful kitchen tool.

I would recommend this to anyone looking into buying it.

Have used it a few times and have compared it's reading to another meat probe with very close readings.

Have found temperature readings to be very accurate. Easy to use and nice features, particularly the waterproof feature. Purchased to replace a thermometer made by same company, that died after 7 years due to operator error, that was slightly larger overall and had a slightly larger temperature screen, which is the only thing I wish this new thermometer had. It's readable but a bigger temperature screen would be nice. Overall, very satisfied.

Overall, it does what it's meant to do fairly well and is of decent quality, but there are a few things worth noting.It isn't quite as fast as it claims to be at registering the temperature; it's more like 20 seconds.The instructions on how to use the hold button is incorrect. It says to press down the hold button when you insert until it registers the max temp, this will cause it to throw an error. What you need to do is just insert it and just tap the hold buttom before you remove it to hold that temperature reading.To clarify, this means that this thermistor doesn't automatically hold the highest temperature so you have to watch it and wait for it to hold steady and assume you have reached the maximum temperature.

Nice and compact with pocket clip for convenience. Quite accurate and easy to read display.

easy to use

I use this in brewing, it seems accurate and works well, 4 instead of 5 stars as now after a few months if it is placed in hot liquid too long the device won't display the temp, all the LCD light up so you get 8888 instead of 66.7 for example, it's easy to correct, just by cooling it down and re-immersing in the liquid you want to take the temp of. A longer handle would be good as well so I could keep my hand away from very hot liquids.
