Patria: Lost Countries of South America

A clear, comprehensive and fascinating read.
This is an excellently written account of an often overlooked part of the world. As the author suggests, an understanding of South America within the context of world politics/sociology is much needed. While this is in many ways a personal account there is so much detail here that it deserves to become a standard text. It is also a thumping good read.

A beautiful book in every way
This book is beautifully written, exploring a continent that, though I’ve visited a few times, I realised I had no idea about. The travel style writing makes it so much more accessible than any traditional history book - cannot recommend enough. Thank you to the author for bringing this delight into the world.

Captivating from the first page, am half way through and loving it. South America as I’ve never known it. Bravo!

Fascinating read about a history unknown to most on the UK
Really enjoyable read. Blair's style of writing is full of colour and provides an entertaining ride through the historical narrative.
