Odd it had a flavor review, but within two uses (washing in between) the carcinogenic plastic flavor went bye bye.Use it with pouch on my back pack hunting.I hunt from a blind so I’m not using a camel back. Easier to clean.Works well just make sure you close cap correctly. Made the mistake and looked like I peed my pants 😂Keep my camel back in my oh crap backpack.

This was purchased and put in my go bag, so it hasn't been used yet. This would be nice to have out hiking because it's not large in size and holds up to 2 quarts of water. When not being used it can be collapsed down and put in a backpack without taking up much room. This is a 2qt canteen, it's an incredibly simple thing that doesn't need a long review. It holds water, doesn't leak, and was definitely new because it is incredibly stiff. Since I intend only to carry extra water with it to refill my camelbak, that's not a major problem for me. If you intend to drink out of it or use the canteen with a gas mask, you'll need to break it in.The M1 cap is intended for use with the USG M40 and M45 gas masks, but will work with other CBRNE systems. The M1 cap is a slightly lighter shade of green, more an OD while the canteen was closer to a forest green. I suspect that the canteen is new from MFG and the M1 cap is unused surplus.

This is a good price for a 2 quart army canteen. It arrived in good order, reasonably clean but for some reason it's really really old. The manufacturer stamp on the side says it was made in 1996. As long as it's in good shape and holds water and does what I need it shouldn't matter when it was made but rubber and plastic aren't known for their longevity so I'm suspicious. Anything made during the first Clinton administration has less of a chance of performing well in 2020 compared to something made this decade.

I bought this canteen to take water where I couldn't with my normal glass water bottle (ie hiking etc) and it works great. One thing I should mention is that this stuff is a sponge for odors. I made the stupid mistake of putting bourbon in it once and my water smelled like whiskey. So I tried to wash it out with lots of Dawn, which only caused my water to smell like whiskey AND Dawn. I discovered that a very easy solution to this is powdered brewery cleaner, which I happened to have lying around. Mixed up a slightly concentrated solution, threw in a stir bar, and let my canteen sit on a stir plate and swish around for fifteen minutes and the canteen was good as new. Lesson: only put water in it.

The canteen seems to be a little thinner than USGI, but is a fantastic product that does what its supposed to do. Gas mask straw cap is very firm and secure, no holes and no leaks. I would recommend this to anybody looking for a USGI style canteen.

It's the real deal. Same canteen I carried in the 1st Gulf War. I carry them now to collect water for purification when backpacking. They are sturdy, not too heavy, and somewhat collapsible. Perfect for my needs and have never had one burst or leak, even when I was an infantryman.
