I use about 10%/15% of this in my different bonsai mixes and it works ok nice and small, I have to look around for it to get the best price though. Recommend.

I ordered this to add nutrients and air to a part of my garden where nothing (except weeds!) seems to grow in the thick, clay soil.I was pleased that the chips in this composted bark are small, meaning I could dig it well in to the soil. I have it dug in to the areas I wanted to plant (shrubs I had researched as suitable for the conditions), and after planting I put another layer on top. After a couple of months the shrubs are looking good. I was pleased with the amount of compost supplied and the condition of the bark, and found it easy to work with. There was no odour at all. Really nice texture and great for my bonsai trees.

The product is quite well known by those who, like me, enjoy growing ericaceous plants such as camellias and azaleas as well as Japanese maples. Unlike the bark chippings you buy in most garden centres, this is fine textured and mixes well with compost, which helps to lighten it and add water retention and air. This seller supplied the composted bark in a timely fashion and at a reasonable price, better than the competitors.
