This ,like the other 2 books in this seris it is chock full of behind the scenes & stunning photographs of movie Icons. It goes further into detail of the 'how' than the other books which are understandably more general.The 3 books cover Foundation of ILM to the start of the digital realmThe digital realm & the art of FX. The fourth book though not part of the seris is for me 'Inside the model shop' ,a companion to the other three.Together the three books chart the rise of ILM to close to the Present day.Highly recommended for Film buffs , modellers & those who just like this feild presented by people who love what they do & want to talk about it.Chris D

It’s a coffee-table book of behind the scenes information, conceptual art, illustrations, storyboards, matte paintings, models and photos.

This is a very good coffee-table picture book. The info contained inside is um, questionable. Statements like "Animation was used when the Evil Emporer was firing lightning bolts at Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi" well, I can't argue with it!

Great coffee table book with tons of insight behind the early days of ILM. Lots of photos, sketches, and interviews. I dinged it one star since it's written by one of the guys from ILM who's clearly not a writer. This should have been ghost-written or else-wise heavily edited. The prose is sometimes pretty sophomoric.

From one nutty Star Wars collector to another . . . . BUT THIS NOW!

Fantastic book. I cannot express how much amazingness there is in here about all the ILM movies. If you like learning about film and seeing how things were done this is the perfect book.

This is a replacement copy for a dogged ear one I bought when a college freshman in in 1986.

Gift for my husband, it's become part of his collection.

L'annuncio non aveva foto e sono andato un po' alla cieca. Mi è arrivato con la copertina era STRAPPATA, lo accetto solo perchè è raro e non lo trovavo.Ma da collezionista non mi ha fatto piacere, anche se è usato non erano state specificati i problemi di copertina strappata e non c'erano nemmeno foto per valutare.Saluti

Una perla per chi lavora o magari è solo appassionato di effetti visivi e/o speciali, un libro un po' introvabile ma ben scritto, con immagini e foto mai viste prima.Un libro che ha più di 20 anni ma che è integro e ben tenuto (sono presenti lievi scoloriture sui bordi della copertina)Peccato per la consegna molto lenta che mette a dura prova la pazienza..

The packaging in this order was horrible. A big and heavy book was shipped in a flimsy thin plastic bag with no extra protection. The plastic was ripped in places from handling with further damage tot the book. Why not user cardboard? It's a shame because the article was in very good condition inside but now...
