It's important for boys to read especially if they are shy about talking about it
I bought this book for my grandson so that if he has any questions it may be easier for him to talk to me

Get the “My Changing Body” (age 8-10) instead for learning about just puberty
The I’m A Boy books for 8-10 (My Changing Body) and 11+ (Hormones) are good for learning about puberty, but not sex. I am keeping the one for 8-10 since it explains well the changes to the body. The one for ages 11+ overlaps a lot, adds some more detail about bodily changes, but then just drops a short one-page explanation of sec that is insufficient and poorly framed at the top of the page (see photo). It just jumps to “After sexual intercourse, how does the sperm find the egg” but doesn’t really cover the topic well at all. I would stick with the book for 8-10 to cover puberty alone and find other books to cover sex. Do not get this book because it does a bad job of leading up to and explaining sexual intercourse. It is a surprise ending to me and I would rather this book not introduce it at all than do an incomplete job of explaining it.

Perfect balance of information
I went to my local bookstore and took every male puberty/sex ed book off the shelf. I went through every one of them and walked out empty handed. They was either massively too much sex information or absolutely zero (focusing only on bodily changes). As a mom of a boy (whose father is deceased), this was a hail mary order off the internet that was a perfect fit.

Great little book for boys especially if they are going into puberty.
I got this for my 13 year old child, who also has autism. I wanted something very easy for him to read and comprehend and this book really nailed it. Since he is now going through puberty and has lots of questions and is discovering new and different things about his body I want to make sure that he had something that he could go back and reference if he had questions other than just trying to remember conversations that we've had. I love that this allows him not to feel awkward or embarrassed by having to always come to me and ask specific questions.Clearly this book isn't perfect and is not a replacement to parenting and helping my child grow up, but it was wonderful to read with him and help further discuss the topics in the book.

Great for my 9 yr old
I wanted my 9 yr old to learn where babies come from and how they are made. I wanted the book to be biological. I wanted it to talk about sperm, eggs. I wanted it to define sex in one to two sentences, on the order of when x gets inserted into y, sperm can meet up with egg. I would have been happy to wait another year or so, but his more knowledgable friends talk.I didn't want a book about sex. He doesn't need to know about the various types of sex, masturbation, contraceptives, morning after pill, STDs and god knows what else. That's for much later. This book delivered exactly what I was looking for. It talks about the changes to the body during puberty. It's very biological. It also covers wet dreams in a paragraph. Perfect for a 10 yr old I think.

Great tool
There's some very good info in this book and made it much easier to cover the birds, the bees, and boys with my both my son and my daughter.
