Overall, I really enjoyed assembling this gingerbread house set. It’s possible one of the pieces was missing—a small 1x1 square—but it’s also possible I dropped it. Either way, this set includes an extra bag of spare parts and I was able to locate what I needed there. The end product is a cute little gingerbread house that’s solid and looks nice.There were two problems that complicated this build and are the reasons I didn’t give this 5 stars. The first is a teeny-tiny assembly piece that is used repeatedly to connect the ‘female’ sides of pieces to the ‘female’ sides of other pieces. I’ve not encountered these little rings before. They’re about 1-2 mm and almost impossible to get hold off, much less press into place. I ended up grabbing a pair of specialist tweezers for delicate work in order to get these in place. And it involved a lot of expletives along the way.The second issue wasn’t so much a problem as it made me laugh at the inadequacies of the instructions. Once you’ve assembled the roof pieces and are ready to attach them to the house, you know it’s going to be a delicate and potentially frustrating experience. The instructions have a picture illustrating which points attach to which along with one sentence: “ This part of the installation requires skills.” Thanks, Captain Obvious! Anything else? Beyond that, though, the instructions were very good and every step is clearly laid out.The pieces arrive in four large numbered bags. These are used sequentially with the instructions. Inside each bag, though, are multiple smaller bags that don’t seem to correspond to any of the steps in the instructions. But, I didn’t find it too problematic. Overall, this was a nice weekend experience.

This is a wonderful family activity getting ready for Christmas! We got this set for a family with a 7-year-old boy to use. He is used to building with name brand sets for 9+ years old, so we thought this set would be good for him with the help of his parents as needed.They have been able to build the set without issue. The 7-year-old has done a lot of the building, but adult help was helpful with the lighting especially.This is a project that could be done over the course of a few days, or even the whole month of December kind of like an advent calendar. The set can be stored with the holiday decorations and brought out each year, whether it is left in tact, or taken a part and built each year.The pieces are bright and colorful. The design is very cute and has so many special features that make it come to life.

I was missing three pieces in this build, all of which I was able to continue building around with substitutions of similar pieces from the extra piece bags included (which are incredibly generous). I also had one warped piece that could not be replaced but held together to build around anyway.I had fun with the build, though I was often mystified by the instructions included and had to puzzle out how certain things would work on my own or through trial and error.Where the build fell apart for me is the roof. I was unable to complete it. The step involves putting 15 small nodes inside the preexisting bricks to adapt them and must be completed twice. Having tried for 20 minutes, I'm unsure most could accomplish this without the steadiest hands and/or a pair of tweezers. My fingers are burning and I've only managed to insert five.I am giving up.Its a shame because the house itself is quite cute.Definitely for advanced builders only!!

This is a cute gingerbread house with many charming holiday details such as a snowman, gingerbread man, train, Christmas tree, turkey, teddy bear, presents, and more. It will be a gift so this review is written by examining the contents not by building it. It comes in a box with the picture of the house on the outside suitable for gifting.The contents are divided into numbered bags 1 through 4. Each number has multiple bags but I appreciate that these multiples are put in a ziplock type bag that has the corresponding number. This will make it easier when taking breaks from building. It also comes with a bag of complimentary spare parts. I appreciate that these are separated since other kits sometimes thankfully include spare parts but unlabeled which make me wonder when I finish building if I missed an instruction. The box is labeled for 12+ years which I assume is due to the LED lighting and there are two pages in the instructions which state “This part of the installation requires skills.” We’ll see how difficult this is later. I took off one star as the parts are not individually lighted as it appears in the pictures but are lit by 1 LED strand wrapped around inside the roof.

This is so much fun. A gingerbread house is perfect for the holidays. It is fun to build. There are directions and bags that are marked to make completion easier.

Super fun Christmas themed building set. It took several hours for my 10-year-old to put this together, but he was able to do it independently using the directions. It's cute and has a lot of little accessories with it. I love that it has lights, although the cord is pretty short. The biggest downside is there are certain pieces that don't quite fit together properly. It works, as long as nobody touches it.

This is a fun build, took me about 2 days of partial building. The house is cute, will go in nicely with our other block houses! They gave plenty of spare parts which came in handy. Cute house, check out the photos!

All the colors are great. Need time and space for this item. Great for a family.
