Almost as good as OEM
Update: March 2023: Just received the new Strongarm 28 Inch ( part # B6117) Hatch Lift from Amazon and it is a much inferior product then what I received from 5 years ago. The diameter of the body is much narrower strut and the connection point plastic sockets are smaller. It does fit properly, but not as strong as my original equipment Honda part(17 year old lift) or the Strongarm #6117 one I ordered five years ago that gave out at the lower connection. I doubt this new smaller one will even last the five years. Look at the picture they are both Strongarm part # 6117 but the new one I received with the blue tag is an inferior product. Hence downgraded the rating to one star.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Back in 2018 ( 5 years ago) my original right lift support failed because it rusted. I bought only one Strongarm 28 Inch Hatch Lift #B6117 and it has lasted up until now. I use my hatch almost everyday, for kids stuff or groceries. It still has plenty of strength but bent at the lower connection ball joint, so now whenever I try to close the hatch the lower section pops out. Not sure if it is because the right and left may have different forces on them, since the left one is still the original 17 year old Honda OEM lift support and may support the hatch unevenly causing extra stress on the stronger right side.Anyway the Strongman lift support lasted 5 years for $22 which is pretty good, and did not rust, hence the 4 stars. The bad is 5 years later they are now $33 which is a steep price hike. I ordered this one again since the other non OEM brands look to be inferior in build quality and not as strong.

Good OEM replacement for 2006 Honda Odyssey liftgate struts
Last week, our tailgate stopped staying in the "up" position. It had been hard to open for several weeks. After seeing the price of one OEM replacement strut ($60+), was glad get two of these struts for about $50. There are other aftermarket brands that cost less, but these StrongArm struts had consistently higher reviews.Installation: I used a ladder and some blocks of wood to prop open the tailgate. The old struts were easy to remove using a flat-bladed screwdriver to release metal spring clips that secure the ends of the strut to ball joints. I cleaned the ball joints and applied a light coating of grease. While the installation instructions say to replace one strut at a time, that did not work for me. The old struts had compressed over time so that when fully extended they were about 1/2 inch shorter than the new struts. So when I removed the right strut, leaving the tailgate supported by the ladder and wood, the left strut prevented me from opening the tailgate wide enough to allow the ends of the new strut to align over the fixed ball joints.Because the new struts cannot be compressed by hand, the only option was to remove both of the old struts. Be careful, the tailgate is heavy. I added more wood blocks on top of the ladder to gradually open the tailgate wide enough to attain alignment. Used a flat-bladed screwdriver to loosen the metal clips at end of each strut, then popped the ends in. Compared to the OEM Honda struts I removed the new struts seem to have slightly more play over the ball joints, but they are secure enough. What a difference. The tailgate opens smoothly now and stays up.

Great Product - A little install instruction would help!
I broke my lift when my garage door accidentally caught the van hatch. Our body shop told me that I could just take the old one off and buy a new one. This is the best price (and I only need one, not a pair, so it works out).I wish there are some minimal instruction in the package. The arm is not designed to simply "snap on". You have to do two things (I found out by searching youtube videos). You need to mount one end, and then twist the other end (hard to twist, it's very tight), and mount the other. It's NOT a snap-on, as I imagined. You need to use the screwdriver to lift this little ring of metal strip, so it unclamps the mounting point. It's hard to do by yourself because it takes two hands, and the hatch is weighing on you. One youtube tip is to have another person or a standing ladder to hold up the door, and then try to get it.When I removed the old one, I see that there is lubricating grease on both mounting points on the van. So I didn't know if I should have greased them properly before mounting (I still don't!) ... So far so good though. Again, a little instruction would help - or could the company make a little youtube video?Once properly mounted (I hope!), the lift worked BETTER than the OEM one. It lifts very efficiently (I can open the hatch slightly, and it raises it), and seems to be "tighter" or "stronger" in its hydraulics than the OEM lifts. So, that's great.

Works even better than before!
I am extremely impressed with this after-market product. Our 2006 Honda Tailgate Struts went out on us the day before we were to leave for a camping trip. We ordered these to be shipped next day and they arrived right on time(right before it was time to load up for our trip). The installation was very simple and took about 5-10 minutes and we were able to load up the van for our trip. My husband and I were very impressed with the company too. We initially thought we had received two left struts because the pivots were angled only in the right direction to fit the left strut. We were upset because we were on a timeline and really needed these that we shipped in to work. My husband called the 800 number on the strut to inform them that we thought we had 2 left struts. They answered very quickly and told us that they worked universally and we could force the top pivot to turn the other direction. The CS agent said not to worry that he wouldn't break it(exactly why my husband hadn't already tried it). As soon as we knew that, my husband got it turned and installed in just a few minutes and we were back in business! Actually these struts work even better than the factory struts. Before, I would have to lift the tailgate some before the struts would do their job, but these start working almost immediately. All in all, we are very happy with these struts and the company behind them. They have worked great and it saved us well over $100 to get the factory struts and have a dealer install them. Save yourself some money and do this repair yourself!

Good value.
Arrived in less than 48 hours. These struts fit my 2007 Odyssey correctly. They actually have a stronger "push" than the stock ones did. The tailgate now pops up on its own after you pull the handle. Hopefully they last 10 years like the originals.Calgary dealership wanted $110 each for the stock units and they didn't have them in stock.
