These work well to give you a nicely-shaped bun.
These type of mesh bun donuts take a couple tries to get the hang of it if you haven't used them before, but once you do, you'll get great results. I have waist length hair and I like to use this size (medium) or large, depending on the look that I want. I use rubber bands. I usually make a pony tail first, put the pony tail through the donut, spread the hair over it it, wrap a second rubber band over that, and then wrap the ends of my hair around the bun. Because of the length of my hair, I can just tuck the ends in and it stays in well, with no need to use bobby pins. I have enough hair that it fully covers the donut, so I don't really need to worry about the color that I use. For me, the key is to find the perfect rubber bands that will stretch enough to go over the bun, but will then tighten back up without having to wrap them around again. I prefer this type of mesh donut to some of the other bun makers that I've tried. It's lightweight and squishy, and is easier for me to use than some of the other options (and I've tried many of them). This stays in very well - I can even sleep in it and then just touch it up a little bit to smooth out any stray hairs. Although I think it looks nicer worn as low as possible, I often wear these buns very high on my head so that they won't get in the way when I'm driving. Just like claw clips, I have difficulty wearing them directly on the back of my head because they hit the headrest in an awkward position, so, if I'll be travelling, I tend to wear a very high bun.Because it's mesh, if your hair is shorter, you will be able to stick bobby pins through it anywhere you need to secure it. If you have difficulty manipulating your hair around it, then start by making a ponytail first, instead of just sticking your hair through it. Don't give up, cuz assuming that you have enough hair, you'll get the hang of it eventually. You may need to get a mirror and adjust your hair a bit to fully cover it. Tip - if you have a hand mirror available to get a look at the back of your head in the bathroom mirror, just use your phone - either use a mirror app or take a pic of it. To be honest, I can't really tell much of a difference between different brands of this mesh style. These work essentially the same as the ones from a high end beauty retailer and the ones I got from the local dollar (and a quarter) store, but since you get 10 in this pack, the price for each one is much lower, plus you get the bobby pins. I like the medium ones fine for everyday, but for a more dramatic look, I prefer the large ones.

Great set and size. Meets our needs.
While I can make a ballet bun for my daughter without using a donut, sometimes we like the look of the donut more. She also likes to wear buns to school or special occasions. I ordered this set for $7 and it was worth the price.***PROS:—1) Comes with multiple donuts - This is great because sometimes we do a “Princess Leia” style with two buns or do something fun for “crazy hair day” at school and put in several buns. In a practical sense, we now have donuts as a backup for when one starts to fall apart and/or if we lose one.—2) Comes with plenty of matching-colored pins - and the pins aren’t flimsy. They hold their shape well.—3) Great donut height - I think this is my favorite part. Some donuts by other brands make them far too thick and look very unnatural when on the head. These donuts have a great height and look like a natural bun.—4) Donut width is good for my daughter’s hair type and length (Straight, thin, fine hair. Medium hair length.) Some other brands are too small or too big. This donut size is perfect!—5) Donuts are flexible and firm enough. Not too firm. They have some give, which makes them easier to use that some other donuts, but they still hold their shape.***NEUTRAL POINT:—1) The only thing I think this set is missing is hair nets. I like using hair nets for ballet class to keep hair wispies from escaping.***CONS:—1) None--------If my viewpoint changes after I have posted this review, I will edit and update it.

Perfect for Folklorico
These worked perfect to do my daughter’s hair. She’s 6 years old with a small amount of hair and the buns worked perfectly and helped her look professional. The buns are comfortable and the bobbin pins are small perfect for the littles

Fun and easy to do
Well, what do ya know... I did it and I'm a certified klutz when styling my hair. Note that I did this hair bun with NO mirror, I just sat down in my living room chair and tried it out, thinking that would be the ultimate test. I used no gel, no hair spray.* Showered & washed my hair b/f I went to bed. The pic is of my clean, unbrushed morning bedhead. Yes, the ends are a bit uneven. Yes, I have lots of gray hairs coming in. My hair is thin and a bit curly, so nothing to write home about.* 2 pics show front & back of the package when it arrived. I got the medium-size bun makers in brown.* Brushed the hair up and put the bun maker on like a pony tail holder. I thought there wasn't much hair left to work with coming out of the top, but kept on going.* Pic was taken from the front after splitting my small 'pony tail' in two, smoothing the front and back sections over the bun maker and securing it by putting a pony tail band around the bottom. Tucked and pinned some of the loose hairs (as I felt them b/c I didn't use a mirror).* Rolled some loose hairs and tucked and pinned more as I felt all around the base. Not bad for a first try. I'm bound to get better at it and will use a mirror next time. I don't know what I'm going to do with 10 of these but I'll use several of them and maybe give a few to others. Seems to me that you can invite your friends over for a party (especially those that have longer, thicker hair), put 'Star Wars' on the TV, and everyone can let their Princess Leia out. In my mind, these bun makers help to style your hair with ease.

Easy to use
These were a life saver in creating a perfect bun for my daughter's dance recital. They are so easy to use. She has dark brown hair on the thinner side and these worked great. I definitely recommend these to anyone who could use some help with making a polished looking bun.
