Long lasting and cheap DIY fix.
The Rain Bird 42SA+ is a durable and reliable gear-driven rotor that is designed for long-lasting operation. Its water-saving Rain Curtain nozzle technology produces large droplets and uniform patterns, making it an excellent choice for wind-prone areas. The pattern adjustment is easy and requires only a flat-bladed screwdriver. The quick check arc/fast forward feature allows you to check or set the pattern while the sprinkler is running. The rotor's adjustable 40° to 360° part-circle and reversing full-circle rotation in one make it versatile and adaptable to various irrigation needs. Additionally, the micro ramps direct a portion of the spray close to the head, eliminating dry brown spots. The protected closed-case design makes it ideal for harsh surroundings, including sandy soil and creeping grasses. Fairly priced and easy installation. So, there is no need to pay $100 for a simple rotor fix.

Best all around gear drive
This is my go to gear drive head for most lawn applications. It is sturdy, easy to set and has a much better spray pattern than any others that I have dried. Nozzles are removable so you have the options of changing the GPM if necessary although I have found the one that comes standard is right for most situations. I especially appreciate that you dont have to go looking for a hundred different special tools when you want to adjust it, just a screwdriver is all you need.As a bonus it handles our dirty irrigation water like a champ!
