MayfairLinden Slow Close Toilet Seat, Non Slip Heavy Duty Wood, Easy Install, Round, White

Bought this to replace a 'like-new' plastic toilet seat that was very unstable in that the fasteners kept loosening and then the seat would slide from side to side, making it dangerously unstable. This was in the home of a very elderly woman, so could neo let her use it. Was also an unwelcome surprise if it slid off the base while a mobile person was using it!This Mayfair is same brand as another couple of brands that are sold in big box stores and well made, attractive, and most of all, STABLE. I always prefer wood to plastic anyway, and this was a nice and reasonably-priced replacement. The slow lid is also nice, although it can feel a bit stiff at first.

I love this toilet seat. It is terrific. What I don't love is the fact that it completely snapped off its hinge two months after the warranty expired. I live in a two-person home and I am the only person using it. My digestion is normal and I weigh below average for my age. I don't use the seat as a workbench. I don't chop wood on it. I don't park my car on it. BUT, it just snapped off straight out of the blue. Repair was impossible. I am super disappointed with this product and caution future buyers. This is very solid, and the slow closure mechanism works good,, but maybe a little too good. I would rather have a slow closing toilet seat, as opposed to one that slams closed, with a loud bang. This might even be adjustable, but it closes so slow, you might need to give it a little nudge, but still better than the alternative.I have not had any problems with the finish coming off, but I owe that to the other reviewers, that mentioned that issue. I use a very gentle soapy water, to clean it, with a germicidal soap, and it still looks brand new. I could see how using a very strong cleaning product could be too harsh, but I think I will try one of the citrus based products, just to see what happens. It does look good, not that a toilet seat needs to look good, but it certainly doesn’t look bad. It is a stark color, which is totally appropriate.My tiny issue, which is an acceptable trade off, but might not be for everyone, is as follows. There are toilet seats that are installed from just the top of the toilet, which is what I thought this was. This is the type that you can tighten from the top, but you do need to place the bottom fasteners, from the bottom. I was replacing one that you could completely installed from the top, and then you could tighten it from just the top, but that created the situation where you had to tighten it, way too frequently.Everything is relative, and the old one required tightening from the top, which took all of about a minute, but perhaps every few months. It was quick and easy, but became annoying. This promises to stay tight, and I actually waited to see for myself, and it hasn’t loosened at all, and is exactly as tightly installed as the day I installed it. I ordered it, and took everything out of the box, including the hardware, and I was replacing the older one, that was broken. I am sure I could have returned it, but I figured I would just install it, even though you do need to get to the bottom, for a few moments. The only reason this even mattered was there is very little room between the wall, on one side, and the vanity, on the other side, in my guest bathroom, so it is a little tight to get underneath. With that said, I would do it again, in a second, because the full top only installation type does loosen. The 5 minutes of getting under it was well worth it, to install it, and forget it. No more retightening necessary.I agree with the other reviewers that mentioned it is not perfect for comfort, but no more, or less than any other solid hardwood seat. I gave up on the cushioned ones, along time ago, because they are usually somewhat flimsy, and harder to keep perfectly clean. Maybe there are better cushioned ones available now, but this was perfect for my needs. As long as you have room to get the bottom fasteners on, from the bottom, this was a great choice.

After 2 years they still slow close nicely and are sturdy but after about a year the paint started to wear off. Overall the value is still pretty good but I wish it didn't look so worn so quickly.

Great sturdy and comfortable seat.Watching the Lids close is like watching a dab of paint slowly dripping down a wall.Think that the lids finish will mark and scratch easily though.Other than that it is very nice.

It was so easy to install and it works great. Neither sear nor lid, singularly or together, slam down. Works perfect.

The seats themselves are totally fine but just go and get yourself another set of boltsThe head on the tops of these is too soft and so it's easily butchered when you have to tighten it just even a little bit (even though it has Phillips head and a nut shape that you can use they both just deform immediately)and the nut on the bottom broke on every single one of my toilets before I had even started really cranking it down.as a result on both toilets one bolt is loose and allows the seat to movehad to go get new bolts and nuts to hold the toilet seat well.If they could get the bolts to be as good as the seats I would give it five stars but having to go through the trouble of trying to install it with the bolts that are too soft and then having to run out and buy replacements and reinstall them I gave them three stars.

Good overall quality at the the ~70 dollar price point.Both lids closely separately to each other and at a slow pace (~20 seconds) I expect thus to speed up as time goes on though so best it closes slowly at the start.Very easy to install but will need a 1/2" so ket/wrech/Crescent as the plastic bolt head will sheer completely off when installing per instruction and use and will not install properly without sherring off. There is still a Philips slot for removal in future though.Comfortable and solid feeling and does not so far wriggle in place as a plastic one would tend to do.

You pay for the quality, which is fine......very solid and well secured to toilet bowl
