Ultimately worthless
It's quite true what the other reviewer said: You get what you pay for.In this case, I bought the tap set for a 3D printer project. I wanted to be able to put some threads on a few parts for easier assembly, and figured that I didn't need to spend a mint to get what I needed. In retrospect, I should have bought a decent tap handle, and just the tap bits that I needed. The first problem is the tap handle. It absolutely refuses to hold any tension against the bits. You can try to screw the handles down all you like, but with the first or second turn of the bit, you'll find that the handle has loosened up on you. This held me up yesterday such that I had to visit the local big-box hardware store to get a proper tap handle.Next are the bits. I used the 3mm one to put some threads in some plastic parts, and it worked pretty well. But when I tried using the next smaller bit in some aluminum, I was surprised when the bit snapped off on my third turn. I will concede that I wasn't using tap fluid, but here's the thing: I wasn't even far down in the pre-drilled hole, perhaps just far enough for the tap to even begin biting into the metal. But let's set aside the snapped bit. Overall, what's the use in a tap set if you can't use it because of the sub-standard handle? I had to spend 60% of the cost over again to get a proper handle, not to mention the lost time in having to go and get the thing. In the future, I'll make sure I get good tools, even if I think I might only use them once. After all, you never know.

Needs to provide measurements/index for provided parts!
Normally I wouldn't review something that I have so little expertise with. I bought this to finalize an upgrade to my bicycle that requires an M6x1.0 tap. This kit has the required size, which is pretty standard, but it doesn't say anything in the product overview about the sizes. The back of the box has the sizes for the dies, taps, and drill bits.Oddly (or maybe not, again I'm not an expert) the dies and taps are in metric, but the included drill bits are in inches, which seems to mean that the starter hole I need is going to be wider than I want. For instance, according to google, I need to thread a hole for a 6mm tap, which means, under normal circumstances, using a 5mm drill bit. However, this set gives me a 13/64th inch bit. According to google, the conversion is:(13/64) inches = 5.159375 millimetersWell, that's .85 mm I've lost in the metal that I'm threading for the screw to bite into. I'm concerned that the tolerance here is too loose, so I'm going to see if I have an in-between bit, or if I can use a smaller bit and manually widen the hole, because I'd rather do that than know that I'm riding on a bike where the screw doesn't have enough metal to bite into.-Peter

Works well if you get all the correct taps and dies.
I will not buy a Mibro product again due to POOR quality control. When I opened the case that holds the Taps, Dies and Drills I checked the sizes against the product documentation to make sure they are all accounted for. Inside mine however there where 2 8mm x 1.25 dies, And the 10mm x 1.50 was no where to be found. So I got a tap and die set that goes from 3mm to 8mm. I tried out some of the taps, dies, and drills on some aluminum and they work as advertised. Missing the 10mm die is a large problem for me.

Nice Little Kit
What can I say other than that for the garage tinkerer and those title emergencies of crossed threads, this will do the job. Obviously, the price reflects, hopefully, the quality, dependability, etc. are there better kits out there. Absolutely. However, this kit will serve my needs perfectly, along with the SAE kit I purchased earlier. I would say this is a good buy for me.

Poorly Machined Tools
I tried to use M3, M4, & M5 taps and dies from this set. In each case, they did not make matching parts. I have been making threaded rods and tapping holes regularly for years with other equipment and so I have an understanding of how to use these tools. Not a single part that I made with this set was usable. After attempting to use the above mentioned sizes on acrylic unsuccessfully, I decided to try metal. It again resulted in parts which did not match. Finally, I took an M5 screw and M5 nut and attempted to place them onto the appropriately labeled tap and die, they did not fit. The attached images show that the screw barely entered the die before starting to be shaved and the bolt barely fit onto the tap before it began to be shaved.

Works, exactly what I expected
Not the highest quality, but it works, which is what I was after. Don't use it enough to justify getting an expensive set, and this provides me with a tap/die set when I need it, which is rare, but when I need it, I need it.Would not expect it to hold up to daily use, but don't use it that much so I can't say for sure.

You get what you paid for
Despite how many centuries of experience mibro may have, this set is made in china, and shares all "advantages" of cheap chinese goods:1. Badly manufactured handles/holders.2. Drill bits are dull, and are almost unusable on steel.3. Taps/dies are also made from "chinese clay" steel, so they better work only on non-ferrous metals.

Good set for the home mechanic with quality taps and dies.
This is a very good set of metric taps and dies, well worth the money. The home craftsman/mechanic will find them to be adequate for many jobs. The drills supplied are close enough if you drill a nice round hole. I would advise drilling undersize and gradually opening the hole to the final size. The set is limited to one die holder so it is best as an add on to a larger sae set so you will have more options. I only have one complaint: the box divider is way too flimsy and starts breaking almost before you have the wrapper off.
