Fishing Sim World - Xbox One

Update***Customer service helped me out. They sent me a digital code so I could play games without causing damage. Had to prove I purchased it with reciept.THANK YOUMy CD takes up to 5 minutes to load and makes the xbox run very loud and hot. It actually ran my xbox so hot, it stopped working. I thought maybe my xbox was on its last legs anyway and got a new one. Same thing... runs loud when trying to play the game.Again, great game. I bought every dlc they have spending double what the game it worth. Customer service through Dovetail not good. I went back and forth with them for weeks. They take multiple days (3-4) to respond back. I asked for a replacment cd and told them I would send the original back, they wont do it. Kind of low and cheap they are forcing me to spend another 40 bucks on a game I already have that costs them next to nothing to send.If you buy one because the game is great, cool. I would return and replace as soon as it starts running your system loud and hot.

Looking for a fun fishing game for the Xbox One? Don't trust Rapala - Fishing Sim World is the game you are looking for. Sure, nothing compares to the real thing, but it's the middle of winter and you're a fisherman stuck in the house, then this might just get you thru. It's about as good as I'd imagine a fishing game could be. The only complaints I really have are that I wish the boat driving mechanics were a little more realistic, and there are only 2 lakes in-game that you can use your boat on. You can download additional locations but at 11 dollars a pop, that can add up. Still, fishing from the shoreline is a lot of fun too. When compared to the stripped-down, arcade-y offering for the Xbox One from Rapala, the choice is clear. Dovetail games nailed it.

Overall, this game is OK. No underwater views/graphics and when you hook up, the fish never jump out of the water...so, from a bass fishing perspective, not very realistic. I only use lures because the bobber or bottom fishing options are like watching paint dry. And carp fishing? Why??? I'd also like to see the fish finder while I'm fishing or at least be able to have it pop up without having to be driving the boat. The lack of a trolling motor to move around while fishing is disappointing. Graphics are very good and I like how you can set time of day and weather. I like the rain option best. I think there is way too much emphasis on maintaining drag while fighting a fish with wild swings to both extremes but I have learned to control the rod position in conjunction with the drag and have a good technique down now. With some minor upgrades/tweaks this could easily become a 5-star game.

This game has everything I wanted. A couple of notes: So far, bluegill have proved evasive as I haven’t caught one yet. Also, the game doesn't seem to have catfish bait or hooks (maybe I haven't unlocked it yet?). Pike fishing is hard but it’s realistic because it’s hard in real life. Carp fishing is great (almost constant action). Bass fishing is good (lots of lures and equipment). Although, it’s difficult to reel in bass (they throw the hook ). I've only had the game a week but have caught lots of big fish. My best large mouth bass is 11.4 lbs; small mouth is 8.3 lbs; mirror carp is 33.25 lbs; common carp is 30.4 lbs; leather carp is 32.1 lbs; pike is 14.6 lbs.The biggest negative is no offline multiplayer.

We are an IRL fishing family and we love this game. My 6 and 9 year old are kept entertained as long as we can put them on the fish. The attention to detail is impressive. Crankbaits feel like crankbaits, spinner baits spin, snozberries taste like snozberries, you get the picture. They seem to be paying attention to feedback and fixed bugs in the recent update. You can sit for a long time without a bite and like the other reviewer said, you get mad just like in real life. We would like the ability for all of us to have different characters on one user ID but it's not a dealbreaker. Overall, a solid game for those who enjoy fishing.

**update**Well, it actually turned out to be my Xbox not liking to read disk. I have changed my review from 2 to 5 stars. This game is so fun to play. My husband and I will fish for hours and hours and won’t get bug bites or sunburn it’s great! The recent update added more locations and more species of fish, we love this game!!Fun game. Owned for a day and the game doesn’t always play in my Xbox. The game has turned black then returns to Xbox home screen atleast 5 times during gameplay. Really frustrating.
