Value the sound rather than the price!
This is a very good mouthpiece. Although it does not have a 'quality' feel and finish compared to some more expensive mouthpieces, it plays extremely well offering a solid, well focussed, bright sound. It's easy to judge a mouthpiece on the price alone, to write off the Rico mouthpieces as only suitable for learners. Instead, value these mouthpieces for the sound they can produce. I play mine on a Yamaha Custom 82Z soprano and find that it gives me the sound I'm looking for. While they won't be to everyone's taste, they are well worth a try and won't break the bank.

Good mouth piece
Very happy with Rico mouth piece and very good price too. Rico makes good reeds too. Have used them for my alto sax.

Ignore the price , this is a quality product!!!!!
Excellent mouthpiece. I have a Thomann Soprano with this m/p and Rico Jazz Select 2.0 reeds. Makes for easy playing throughout the range.I shall use it for jazz or classical or Latin American music. The sax is great , bronze body , brass keys, well made.Much better than a Vandoren I bought. The polycarbonate seems quite hard so will last a long time with no yellowing typical of an ebonite/hard rubber m/p . Nicely made , high quality , recommended.

Cheap alternative to Yamaha or the like
I bought this as an extra mouthpiece. It was not clear from the product description which model would be best. the B5 turns out to be the average mouthpiece and it compares reasonably well to the Yamaha 4C. Basically a good all rounder for a beginner(See photo for other options in this range). It is not immediately clear what grades of reed they consider hard or soft. I am using a grade two which I suspect may be a little soft for this B5 mouthpiece as I am finding it a little harder to play the top register. I also suspect I would have been happier with the A3 but all of this is personal preference. Re build quality, this is effectively plastic rather than the harder ebonite and so is unlikely to have the durability of a more expensive mouthpiece. However for the price it is good value and blows well.

Solved my problems
I have been looking for a mouthpiece for some time now - the problem being that to buy a 'good' one can be an expensive risk. However, I took a flier with this one and it has done the job perfectly without having to spend silly money. Would recommend it.

For the price it's alright
Affordable mouthpiece, it arrived on time. It will take time to get used to it if you've been using a different mouthpiece for a while, few squeaks when you first try it out. I've got used to it now and it sounds as good as before. Good replacement.

Best to test on a decent quality soprano, but seems good
So I had a straight soprano that I got a long time ago, and it was cheap/not so good. Got around to testing if this mouthpiece will make it play better, but it might have been the sax itself being why it was suddenly flatter (longer mouthpiece/tighter neck fit) and low notes didn’t speak.I now have a curved soprano that’s a quite good Jean Paul model. Haven’t tested this mouthpiece on it, though my sax’s pads and everything seemed well-sealing. It may work well on my curved sax :)But anyways don’t blame the mouthpiece right away for bad performance if the instrument’s cheaply made, lol. The mouthpiece itself seems pretty nice and well made, by my thoughts.
