Scotch Tear By Hand Mailing Packaging Tape, 1.88 in x 50 yd., Clear, 2 Rolls/Pack (3842-2)

I LOVE this tearable tape. I have never been able to get a hang of how to use the packing tape dispensers. I invariably get them all stuck to itself so this is a godsend for me.This works great for most things. I use it to send packages all the time with no issues. It's easy, breezy to use. It tears very effortlessly.The only slight thing that doesn't work for me is I've learned that it doesn't hold up to the heat of an attic in a Texas summer as well as the packing tape that comes on the dispensers. I think it's because that type is a little thicker than this hand tearable tape. Not many products do hold up to the heat of an attic in a Texas summer so I can't ding it much. It's not that it completely doesn't work in the attic. It mostly sticks but the edges roll up and it's a little gummy where it's pulled up ... but that's after being in the attic all year (I used it for a lot of my Christmas decorations). A lot of plastic containers don't hold up to the heat either so I went to cardboard boxes ... that's when I discovered the problem with the tape. ;).Ironically I also bought some other brand/type of tape that was marketed as being for high heat applications and it failed miserably.Once you start using this tape, you won't want to go back to using the type that requires a cutter. You can thank me later. ;)

TLDR: Fan-freakin-tastic at saving on frustration, at the cost of lower adhesive power.I had to move from a house I lived in for over 25 years [tax kept going up and couldn't afford it anymore], and had a lot of stuff I have accumulated and needed boxing up. It becomes quickly apparent, tedious and frustrating, continually cutting long lengths of tape with scissors can be. Especially when it folds on you, or it twists and or sticks to itself while you grab the knife/scissors.So I went to see if, by chance, there was some clear packing tape you could just tear. And this does the job, it tears fairly easily [easier than duct tape], and fairly cleanly across to boot.However, it definitely feels like it sticks less strongly than some of the better, regular packaging tape. But it adheres better than some super cheap cellophane like packing tape. Just to give an idea, those lint rollers would be a tier above, and I would put duct tape and similar ilk at the top of the stickiness tier.It seriously felt so much less stressful taping all the boxes with this than the traditional way. Our family ended up buying it a couple times over, and went looking for this roll specifically when packing.I took a star off because of the lower adhesive capabilities, and can imagine it being better if it was better.

Tape was picked up a couple of years ago. Just started to use it and have been impressed. I think some reviewers thought it popped loose easily and I agree to a point. Where I ran across that minor issue was on it failing to stick where I'd pulled some old tape off the box that I was reusing for packing. Laying this tape over it and saw it wasn't sticking well. Everywhere else I used it it appeared fine. Maybe the old tape residue left on the box affected its adhesion? Otherwise..a good product and it does tear pretty easily.

This is PERFECT for sealing packages (like when you need to return those jeans to Amazon because they make you look like a Walrus). I've been using it for years and I've never had a problem with the package reaching its destination in great shape. Once you try this stuff, you will never go back to traditional tape. It looks and pulls off of the roll just like scissor-cut tape but then you just... tear it with your hands. It does take two hands in my experience.With this, or any tape that rolls back onto itself (isn't in a dispenser), I fold down a teensy bit of the edge when I'm done so that it's really easy to start it again the next time I need to use it. Makes all the difference in my frustration level! Then I just tear that edge off so it doesn't leave anything that might catch and pull the tape off of my box in shipping.You won't regret this purchase. No one likes to pack boxes for shipping, but this tape makes it super-easy. No hunting for scissors. It just tears off. So easy and works great. I'll never ship boxes without it.

I wanted to review this tape because (I have to confess) I was not very sure it would live up to its promises. I found it hard to imagine that it would be both tearable by hand AND strong enough to hold a box or package together. But I figured that I could find uses for it or just return it if I had to. Well, I'm happy to say I was wrong, and it works just like advertised. I have arthritic hands, with very little strength, but I can tear this tape ridiculously easily, without biting it or anything like that. It just -- tears. Yet, it IS strong enough to strap a box together with. It really acts a lot like "regular" clear packing tape; it's a little sticky to itself, it has the same sort of weight and feel to it, and it "clings" to the box when it touches. I boxed up some clothes the day I got it and shipped them back to the store, and a couple of days later, I got the confirmation they'd arrived safely. I think that was when I decided for sure I was quite happy with this purchase.

I love the ease of using this tape. It is strong & secures your packages, yet you can easily tear it by hand. It's so nice not to have to fuss with scissors.

This is great stuff. It's so easy to use. Easy to tear. Easy to apply to the box. It seems less prone to static charges which would cause it to fold back and stick to itself before you can stick it onto the box.I'm docking it one star, because it isn't permanent. If you tape a storage box with it and shove it in your closet for a while, you will discover that it eventually peels off. It seems to be fine for mailing boxes. I haven't had anyone complain that the tape peels off before it gets to them. Other reviewers have had this experience. Maybe it depends on the type of cardboard?

Nothing to dislike about it —- best tape

This tape is so easy to use; no scissors. Great for small or large projects. I think every home should have a roll on hand.
