The god slaying king
Campione is the title given to a mortal who manages to kill a god and gained their power. While delivering an ancient tablet to a friend of his grandfather, Kusanagi Godo defeats the Persian God of Victor, Verethragna, becoming the seventh and youngest of the Campione. Returning to Japan, Godo would like to return to his normal life but with rogue gods on the loose, various organizations wishing to use his power and the other Campione wishing to test his strength, he is unlikely to have achieve this. This set includes all thirteen episodes of this entertaining anime that has a nice mixture of action, comedy and humour. At its heart 'Campione!' is a supernatural harem comedy with some action and an interesting mythological theme thrown in. While the action in the series was entertaining, Godo's abilities also involve a lot of monologuing about mythology and I feel some people could find this a little underwhelming. As for the information on mythology the series uses it is quite interesting but I unfortunately lack the knowledge on the subject to say how accurate it is.The series can be broken down into five sections. The first episode details how Godo became a Campione and is a good introduction to the series. The rest of the series is split into four, three episode story arcs. The first arc see Godo deal with his first rogue god on Japanese soil as Athena searches for her lost power. The next arc sees another Campione come to Japan and shows us a little of the backstory of one of the girls interested in Godo. Arc three sees Godo drawn into a difficult battle with a god whose powers cause him serious trouble while the fourth and final one sees a new girl try to ingratiate herself into Godo's affections while an old foe returns. All these arks are entertaining but I think the third is probably my favourite as it has some good comedy to begin with and some nice action. The characters in the series are generally quite good but I the late inclusion of Ena Seishuin was a little unfortunate as it didn't give her much of a chance to develop. The animation of the series is generally good with only a few poor moments here and there but also has some truly spectacularly animated moment as well (especially whenever Godo uses his Golden Sword and throughout the final battle). The English dub is relatively good with none of the voices being outright terrible. I will admit that Monica Rial did take a little getting used to as Erica Blandelli but I did eventually grow to like her performance. Brittney Karbowski as Athena on the other hand was probably the best of the English dub. The set includes both the Japanese and English dubs with the Japanese being the default on the DVD.Overall 'Campione!' is an entertaining series with a nice theme and some interesting powers on display. Overall I feel that it is worth a good four stars.

Lightweight but entertaining
Surprisingly enjoyable anime romp, completely lacking any substance to the storyline, balanced out by fair character development and some entertaining action scenes. Set in Italy with vague hints of a criminal syndicate, and a bit of jeopardy to liven up the plot. The mad scientist character created a threat element, though that was a bit of a red herring. Worth watching if you are in the mood for an unchallenging piece of entertainment.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites Beware ...
The back cover blurb description is nearly completely inaccurate, in an hilarious fashion that makes it feel like it was written by someone who hasn't watched any of the series, and possibly is only aware of it by second-hand description. A more accurate description:Kusanagi Godou, through a series of unlikely events, ends up killing an ancient Persian god and stealing his power. He proceeds to fight other manifestations of ancient mythology whilst accidentally destroying UNESCO World Heritage Sites. To use his most powerful weapon he needs a detailed understanding of the mythology of the god he's facing, including cross-cultural syncretism and variation in location and time (all of which is surprisingly well researched), and to get that he has the information transferred into his mind whilst making out with one of his four beautiful girlfriends. The anime, sadly, only adapts the first few novels in the series, but till manages to get across the combination of well researched ancient mythology, quirky and unique characters, polyamorous relationship dynamics, and absurd humour which really make the books shine.

Reveiw 7
As a final request to his dying Grandfather, Kusanagi Godo heads to Italy to return a memento (a stone tablet) given to his Grandfather by an old lover. During the trip however Godo is caught up in a battle between an Italian mage/swordswoman and the rogue Persian god of war/victory. Suddenly though the hidden power within the tablet and a magical kiss Godo's whole world is turned on it's head when he becomes a Campione or God slayer. Now assisted by a group of temptingly attractive female fighters (all out for a bit of naughtiness) Godo must protect the world and himself from other rogue gods and Campione out to claim his head!

Top Anime Series !!!!
I loved this series. The protagonist of the story Godou Kusanagi, becomes a Campione (God slayer) after defeating the God of war, Verethragna in combat. It is after this that things start to become very hectic for Godou. He meets girl after girl who are very difficult to live with, especially the very manipulative Erica Blandelli, whom becomes somewhat of a pervert. She loves him dearly as do the other girls. This is a fantastic anime series that blends harem anime with Greek Mythology. This is a must for any anime fan.

i liked it and you will like too
the story starts with GodÅ Kusanagi is a 16-year-old high school boy, who once killed the god "Verethragna" and acquired the title of "Campione" ("God Killer") when he was 15. Erica Brandelli is a 16-year-old Italian girl, who is a "Great Knight" of the magic society "Bronze Black Cross" and had fought together with Godo to defeat Verethragna. Godo doesn't like fighting but his title of "Campione" makes him get involved in battles against other Campiones and uncontrollable gods.(ep1-13)
