Fun, educational series of DVDs for children
My 4-year-old daughter is really beginning to enjoy the Magic School Bus series of DVDs. There are three episodes on this DVD: "Holiday Special" sees the kids go on a field trip to a recycling plant and in the process learn some insightful things about how recycling helps in conservation efforts. "All Dried Up" has Phoebe trying to save the animals and plants of the desert and in the process discovers that they are equipped to take care of themselves. "In the Rainforest" has the kids celebrating Earth Day in the rainforest and learning how cocoa pods, mud puddles and bugs are all part of the ecosystem.Though some of the concepts here are a bit complex for younger children [my daughter is 4], with parent's help they might actually have fun watching this show and even learn new ideas. I think older children will definitely learn a lot from these shows [6-10]. There are also bonus features on this DVD. All in all, this is great entertainment for kids that is also highly educational.

Great collection (here are the titles)
So, I LOVE The Magic School Bus and find that when I need to do some work around the house I can leave my 5 year old in the capable hands of Ms. Frizzle. :) That being said; I too had to wait until they arrived to make sure that I didn't double up on episodes. So here is the list;1. Holiday Special2. All Dried Up3. In The Rainforest4. Inside The Haunted House5. Going Batty6. Spins A Web7.Gets Lost In Space8. Out Of This World9. Taking FlightThis has been great for us (especially on Saturdays) when there are sooooo many commercials that take away from the story line. It's a great addition to your collection...or as have found out; a great start to a collection. :)

The students in my second grade class love these videos
I use them when we study certain units. For example, we do a unit on sound. And the Museum episode works well with helping explain echolation in a fun way. They get review of what we have read about and done experienments on and they don't even know they are reinforcing their learning. Very engaging shows that are easy to build into learning units. The Space Adventures works well into the learning standards for 2nd grade science on planets as well.

Not so Holiday! But still great and educational
I've always loved the educational aspect, however be aware that only 1 of the 3 episodes is Holiday! I didn't look to close before buying. My son still loves all 3 episodes.

Not very "holiday"
I think the cover of this DVD looks Christmassy, but it actually isn't. I think it talks a bit about Hanukkah and Earth Day, but the bulk of the entertainment centers on science--not on holidays. Thus it can be watched at any time of the year. You'll need a DVD player that plays American dvd's. It won't play on a regular Japanese DVD player.
