MAVERICKDF-10 Redi Pro Digital Instant Read Cooking Kitchen Grilling Smoker BBQ Meat Thermometer Fork with Light, Black

I previously had a Redi-fork that I purchased from CostCo and it was very accurate, however I had to remove/reinstall the batteries to get the display working. Then one day it got wet from sitting on the counter too close to the sink—which brings me to this product. A friend was caretaking and didn’t realize there was a display; into the dishwasher it went. I pronounced it dead after a 90 minute Bosch cycle with 150°F water. Being lazy, I had removed the batteries and had tried new batteries (they didn’t survive getting washed), but then left it on the counter for an extended wake (with the new batteries removed). A week later I’m about to toss it in the waste can, but decide to insert the new batteries one more time. It had dried out, and is working 100%. Okay, please don’t try this at home, or your friend’s home. I’m sure it will also get the drop test, the left-out-in-the-sun test, and be used to calibrate the house thermostats. I’ll update this review if/when those tests are finalized.

I cannot figure out how this works! Put in new batteries and they burn out every use. Cannot get it to come on again. I'm frustrated cos now it is not returnable and it does NOT work at all...UPDATE: CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY OFFER ZERO SUPPORT FOR THIS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. IT DOES NOT READ INSTANTLY! IT TAKES ABOUT 5 MINS TI EVEN REGISTER A TEMP. DO NOT BUY IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN INSTANT READ. I WISH I HAD NOT DONATED MY OLD REDI FORK! GOING TO TALK WITH AMAZON ABOUT REFUND BUT DONT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH IT! buy the Taylor instant read instead.

Gave to my boyfriend for ChristmasWorks just as described accurate temperature, easy reading And the light is a super added bonus.No more over done steaks : )

For the premium price of this unit, it is no good. I only bbq once every two weeks and back light went out after a year and a half. Now I need to purchase a new product. This unit is 2x the price of other units. DO NOT BUY.

I received a broken one, and returned it immediately to Amazon. Not sure what happened, but had it worked, it looked like it would have been a neat gadget. Debating on whether or not I should buy another one and give it another shot.

These were given as stocking stuffers to the men I. Our family. Definitely a big hit. Sturdy, easy to operate and read. The light was also received well. It’s a guy thing.

Headline above says it all: takes the guesswork out of cooking a steak; easy to use and read. Could not be better IMHO.

It was a gift for my brother. It even came with the batteries! He will enjoy for many years to come. I have one and it works great.
