Good for the price
I use this little radio to listen to am talk show radio. It works fine for that. It's better when used with the ear buds cuz the speaker is small. However it's small and lightweight, uses regular batteries, and those were features I wanted for potential black outs.

Best Portable Ever Made
Probably the best small, portable radio ever produced and available at this price. It's tidily small, even by small portable radio standards. Thanks to Digital Signal Processing (DSP) it has the best station reception and audio presentation possible in such a small package. The FM antenna is cleverly placed inside the wriststrap, and the AM antenna is inside the unit. It's a little too feature-rich for me, but that's a personal thing. I don't need all the station presets, alarm clock and such. They are needless complications in an otherwise straightforward, simple AM/FM radio. I like to turn it on, tune to the station I want and just listen. Given that it can be placed in a pocket or bag while being used, the function lock is a useful addition. When locked, all the buttons are deactivated. The speaker is large for such a compact unit, and it's entirely adequate in most situations. Plug in earbuds or headphones, and you can activate true stereo listening. Overall, sound quality is far better than we have any right to expect in such a small radio receiver. While I've rated it five-star, it's not perfect. My biggest problem is that markings for tuner and sound volume are on the back of the radio. While holding it, I have to look on the back to see which rocker switch changes volume and which changes stations. Also, feature functions are not intuitive, so you need to consult the user manual (such as it is) to figure out how to make changes. Unfortunately, that manual is a tiny, index-card sized pamphlet of 12 pages. I don't have any place where I can reliably store that to get to it when I need it. So, I'm guessing if I need the information, I'm probably doing an internet search at some future date.I've seen reviews complaining about short battery life and the problem of losing presets when changing batteries. I don't understand the short battery life issue; that hasn't been an issue for me. The best solution to the battery issue is to get a few rechargeable AAA batteries, and battery cost will be negligible. I have not lost the time when changing batteries, although I've done it pretty quickly. I haven't tried it, but I'd suggest you may be able to save presets by changing one battery at a time. When it comes time to replace both batteries, take one out, place a new one in that slot, then take the other old one out and replace that. It may save your presets.Branding and marketing of this unit is a consumer nightmare to me. Amazon sells three different units that are the very same radio. The one I'm reviewing is the most expensive and comes with a set of earbuds. For a couple dollars less, you can buy the same radio with no earbuds. Neither of these units carry the Horologe branding on the radios. Another, even cheaper unit, is branded Horologe. For shoppers, look for this info:Most Expensive, Unbranded, With Earbuds (very low quality earbuds, by the way):Model number: Horologe Portable PocketASIN: B07D522RKWFirst on Amazon: May 17, 2018Unbranded Without Earbuds (about two dollars less):Model Number: FBA_H198SASIN: B06RNP6NLFirst on Amazon: March 21, 2017Horologe Branded, Least Expensive:Model Number: noneManufacturer: DorzuASIN: B07H8NSPH8First on Amazon: September 11, 2018Oh, and my experience shows the clock keeps very good time!Overall, this is the best small, portable AM/FM radio in the history of radio. And I've been listening to them since "transistor radios" became available in the 1950s.

A decent little radio to replace my Sony Walkman radio
I broke my Sony Walkman radio recently and needed a replacement and bought the Horologe for a couple of reasons: it uses two AAA batteries compared to the Walkman's one; it has an external speaker; the lock feature looked better than other radios; and the antenna/wrist strap. So far it seems to be a success. The lock feature does lock out everything, including volume. Radios with a volume dial usually aren't. I wasn't expecting the external speaker to be loud, and it isn't, but the maximum volume on the earbuds is also a little low. I appreciate this will protect my hearing, but some might complain. (Volume goes from 0 to 30 and I have it set to 22 for most listening at home.) I do wish it had more buttons, making it easier to set up, but I was aware of the limitations before purchasing. That said I have figured out how to set it up.The biggest missing feature is a battery life indicator, but then again my Sony Walkman's indicator was useless because it was impossible to see. I often had the radio die at inconvenient times. I haven't had this long enough to say how well the rechargeable batteries I use are standing up. Curiously there is a battery icon with an X over it that shows whenever I lock/unlock the radio. I don't know what that's supposed to show. The icon is not shown in the instruction pamphlet. So, good relatively small and lightweight radio, gets NPR with decent quality and just enough volume for my purposes.UPDATE: I've now used the radio for a couple of weeks and thought I'd give some idea of the battery life. I use rechargeable AAA batteries and they die after about 5-7 days of use, about 3-4 hours per day. Although there is no battery life indicator, I notice that the LCD display becomes more difficult to read with use, being almost invisible even with backlighting, shortly before the batteries die. I do lose all settings when they die.(Even with fresh batteries, you still need to angle the radio to read the display.)Also, the lockout button doesn't lock every function. Even when locked or when turned off and locked, pressing the Mode/Lock button will change from mono FM to stereo FM and back.

Excellent portable FM/AM radio
This small radio has excellent reception and features for such a low price, and there are getting to be few purchasing options for such a device these days. I use this radio at my health club to listen to the televisions, which broadcast on FM frequencies, and to listen to FM broadcast music stations. This radio has 20 memories and all digital controls, including the volume, which is a nice feature for easier volume control; my previous small FM radio had an analog knob for the volume control, which easily turned by mistake and eventually wore out. I am giving this radio four stars instead of five only because the interface is a bit complicated. To control storing a station into memory and tuning to a memory there are only three buttons, rather than one button per memory as on my previous radio and as on a typical car radio, for example. Unlike operating most small radios, I had to read the manual to figure out how to store stations into memory. Other than that minor inconvenience, this product is excellent.

AM Band only works in North America
Neat little unit, good sound on FM Band BUT the AM band only tunes is steps of 10KHz. This means it is only usable in North America (eg US & Canada). The rest of the world uses 9KHz steps. THIS IS NOT DISCLOSED IN THE DOCUMENTATION or on the web sites. Why-oh-why sell this unit to the rest of the world where IT DOESN'T WORK ? This only leads to bad feelings, bad reviews and bad experiences with online ordering and forces a return of goods assuming the purchaser can be bothered to go through the hassle. BUT - I did get my refund - eventually. Thanks for that - have an extra half star. Oh yes, while I have your attention. When will the US get with the rest of the world and convert to metric measurements (eg meters, grams, liters etc) instead of the antiquated imperial system of miles, pounds and gallons . . . :)

this radio is not accurate on am band tunes to nearest 10
the FM function on this radio is very good, unfortunately the AM band is very poor, it will not tune accurately and for some weird logic only sets to the nearest round figure of ten. this causes the reception to be not as good a it should be and it is not possible to use the scan and set functions at all on AM. for example i use am 774 as the most used sport station, it tunes to 770 and will not auto scan for 774. the clock function is on all the time and this causes heavier battery useage than i would expect.
