When I was fiddling with these, I thought they were faulty. I could not connect the unit to the base. Then I realized that the battery had to be installed in order for the latch mechanism to function. This is a very smart feature that I love - but I want to make it clear here, in case anyone else thinks there is a problem .

Received these December 31st 2018 and promptly installed all three into our 2010 40ft 5th wheel. It caught fire in the evening of January 2nd 2019. The fire was near the 5th wheel area (underneath/outside area) and the smoke detectors on that end never made a beep. We tested them after and they tested fine. There were no flames in the trailer. Just tons of smoke. Still never made a sound. Personally cannot recommend this product. Thankfully we found the cause of the fire and things weren't as bad as they could have been. If we would have been in bed sleeping then we wouldn't have been alerted whatsoever. Very scary.

After finding that my alarms were expired I went to Amazon to find new ones! This alarm had good reviews and fit the look I wanted in my home. I particularly like the use of the red LED indicator circle. I am very impressed with the quality of these devices - much more than I had expected from the price. I was concerned about the battery door since those always seem to be difficult to open and get batteries out without prying. These don't have a door which was a pleasant surprise. The battery just sits in connected to short wires. I was also happy to find they are smaller than my previous ones. Safety is obviously more important than aesthetics, but these look so much nicer in living areas! The only issue was since they were smaller I had to be strategic about placing them in the place of the old ones so as not to leave a discolored ceiling circle, or holes in the ceiling. I ended up leaving the previous smoke alarm brace plate and screwed the new base plate on that old one. It turned it into a nice transition piece to the ceiling. #lifehack. Very impressed with these smoke alarms.

We bought these in November, and installed them in January. We have one in every room and the entry and hall ways. The one we put in the master room started beeping like the battery was low about a month later, we replaced the battery and realized it’s the alarm itself that’s failed.Tonight, I’m laying here trying to catch my breath as I write this, because the alarm in our hallway goes off while we were sleeping. My husband and I (I’m also 6 month pregnant mind you) both fly out of bed, he runs to see what’s going on and I run to our son’s room to grab him. The thing alarms for 4-5 times and then just shuts off. We check the whole house, everything is completely fine. I’m going to write that one off as defective also. We ordered 2 packs of these and now 2/6 alarms are broke within 6 months of installation. My faith in these alarms is gone and I will be replacing all of them with a better brand.I would avoid buying these unless you want a headache, and to be writing a bad review at midnight because you are wide awake after a false alarm.

You don't expect a smoke alarm to be dead on arrival brand new out of the box, but one of the units was. Unfortunately, I waited too long to install them, so I can't retirn them in time. Very disappointed. I needed all THREE, not just two working units. Now I have to buy a solo unit and spend more money.This makes me wonder if any are going to be reliable and last any length of time. Quality Control is obviously very poor with the manufacturer

These were bought as replacement units for KIDDE alarms. In order to use these you have to make all new mounting compromises. Once you've done that, it is almost impossible to to twist the upper unit into the mount without breaking it.Once again the old adage appears,"YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR", in this case....CHINESE JUNK!

I like there small, i thought the green light would show, but it just flashes red once in awhile. Hubs threw directions away so i guess the red light means it working.
