Nelson 50230 Square Pattern Whirling Vane Sprinkler

This simple little sprayer puts out a very uniform square spray pattern. I have had like it for many years and decided to get a second one. I noticed only one change from the old one to the new one: the new one has a rotating collar for attachment. This is not an improvement. The old one is much easier to hook up by just rotating the whole sprinkler instead of trying to manipulate the collar on the new one.

I have another sprinkler similar to this one that has lasted a long time, and my initial impression is that this is at least as good. Unfortunately, the product description includes "Floor Area" of 35 square feet (just less than 6' x 6'). You can make it that small or smaller with very low water pressure but normally wouldn't. I have very good water pressure and measured the pattern at about 20' x 20' under full pressure, which would be about 400 square feet. The box says 1,225 square feet, which is 35 FEET SQUARED (very different from square feet). That's way more than most people would get, so the company has some work to do on its calculations.

The top that spins popped off within two days of light use. Returned for refund. Look elsewhere.

It's hard to find a good square sprinkler. Most lawns I see around houses are square or rectangle, yet most sprinklers are round, or those tall oscillating ones that spray up into trees.

I like the Nelson Square Sprinkler. I have purchased them locally for several years. From this order I am convinced there are two versions - Flimzy, can't repair needs early replacement, and Built better, sturdier easier to use and will last longer. I have probably 8 or 10 of the first mentioned, Nelson Square sprinklers that I have held onto. I believe that if an item is busted and can be easily repaired and put back into service, do so. The clamped on aluminum top (actual sprinkler) would be easy to remove and replace. If shops to repair(replace the aluminum cap), or the replacement part(s) exist, the search engines couldn't 'em. Aside from all that, The 6 Pack Nelson 50230 Rain Swirl Whirling Vane Sprinkler, arrived quicker than I expected and in excellant condition. I have them in service and am pleased that they seem to be the second of the two afore mentioned versions of the Nelson Square Sprinkler. It was reasonably priced too.

This sprinkler is great for small to medium size areas to water. Made of steel, they outlast plastic by years! My previous one finally broke, so was glad to see this one was available.
