There is no given max weight capacity. Suffice to say that all Hills washing lines can take significantly more weight than any other product on the market. If we had to hazard a guess it would be in the region of 15-20kg.

Yes it holds double fitted sheets and duvet cover

Q: what size width/apart are the brackets which you use to attach it ( in our case) to strong fence posts please?

They are the same width as the overall frame; ie the frame sits inside the bracket, the brcket does not sit left or right of the frame except being a few mm wider
