Biopsychology (10th Edition)

Wordy, Unecessarily Complicated, Too Indepth, Glazes Over The Concept of Biopsychology With Neuroscience Details
The text of this book is very 'chatty.' Concepts are worded in a manner that is overly wordy and makes it difficult to understand. Presented in a more straight forward manner, it would be easy to understand and the book would be half as long. There's a lot of " ______ doesn't occur unless ____, _____, ______, _____, and ______, do not occur." When they could just as easily say "______ happens when ______, and _______ conditions are present." Additionally, the material is so detailed and way too much for one course. They cover the entire nervous system in one chapter, and even cover how a stomach stapling procedure is done. This is a book for psychology students, not neuroscience majors or med students. Quiz questions for this textbook through Pearson are worded in a way to try and make it hard, and some questions refer to direct quotes from the book, which would require you to memorize the book word for word to recall that missing fill in the blank that isn't a term, but an accessory word or phrase. All in all, they're trying to fluff the material rather than simply teach what you need to know. If a professor is going to succeed with this text, they need to know all the material themselves, and rework it into outlines prepared for the students, which are used by the professor to support lecture. As a stand alone teach yourself book as this class was presented in my case for an online class where the professor did no teaching at all, this book was bad.

Rental Textbook arrived dirty with spills and possibly moldy
This is the book I need for class so I'm going to keep the rental but wanted a record of the quality. I was disappointed that it arrived dirty and possibly moldy. It came in a box, so did not happen in shipping. It was obviously spilled on and it looks like either the binding is moldy or was maybe hot glued at some point (which is better than mold). The sticker on the back reads "used/acceptable". Also one corner was slightly damaged. Otherwise the pages look okay and not marked on. It's my first rental through Amazon and I was a bit surprised that they shipped it.

There are better ones
In my opinion, J. W. Kalat’s (2019) Biological Psychology is much better and more interesting. I have both textbooks and compared the same chapters. Based on that, I decided to take the class which uses Kalat. Interestingly, the ratings (and credentials) of the professors who use these two textbooks also differ accordingly. This textbook is cheaper, but that’s about it. I’d say that you get what you pay for. The tests after each chapter are also crazy here.

Not for US sale 😮
This book says on its back cover that it’s not authorized for sale inside the US. Aside from that, it seems to match up pretty closely with the Revel online version that was required for my class anyway.

Nice Book
Book came in fine condition, it just ended up not being what I needed for my class. This lines up perfectly with the non-global version!

Daughter needed it for school
It is cheaper to rent certain books being you don't get much back when you try to resale.

excellent text book
I don't often say that I loved a text book, but I loved this one! I read far more than my course required because it was so well written - engaging, informative, difficult concepts explained well.

Disappointed in outer look!
The front page looks like it is scratched. The edges are smashed with folds. This cover does not look like it belongs to a brand new book. I am disappointed! Outer look is unacceptable for me! That is why I ordered new copy, not used one. Realy, realy disappointed! It does not worth its cost. I do not mean the contents. It is like I did not pay for it, somebody gave it to me for free. I do not know whose mistake it is, but I do not buy damaged books.
