Off We Go
Have you gone in an airplane trip? What was the most exciting ?The author, Patricia Hubbell, has written a fun story about a little boy's airplane trip. This little boy and his family received a card from gramma. She wants them to come to visit. So, off they go to visit gramma, but it will take a long time, so they will go by plane. They pack, get in their car, drive to the airport, take their tickets to the counter, go through the screening process, find their particular gate to wait until it is time to get on the plane. When you read this book you will discover what happens next.Adults will enjoy reading this book to their children. The children will have all sorts of questions about flying on a plane. They can discuss their feelings and then discuss if they are afraid and how to deal with ,this. The author takes us through the steps it takes to get to the plane, and then what happens once you are on the plane. There are some things you can do on the plane, and then we can see what goes on. This is a good thing if you have never been on a plane. The illustrations by Nancy Speir are bright, vivid and colorful. They depict the adventures of the little boy and his family. This is an informative book for all.Recommended. prisrob 06-04-17

Great book to read before a trip!
I love the size of the book, the drawings are nice too, the colors, and most importantly the simple and direct messages. We are going on an airplane in the next couple of days and this book really helped release some of the butterflies my 5 year old had about flying. Highly recommended!

My toddler loves this book as we prepare him for his first flight!
Such a sweet book! We are preparing my son for his first plane ride, he is 2.5 years old and of course we are nervous about traveling with him! We wanted to prepare him as much as possible and this book as been SO helpful! My son didn't really know much about planes (he prefers trains and cars instead), and this has gotten him REALLY excited! We love reading the poem, but many times, I will just narrate different things that we see on the pages, there is plenty to talk about with your toddler on the pages. I bought my son a cute backpack and airplane toy just like the boy in the story and my son loves that he's just like the boy in the book.

My daughter asks for this book every night!!
I bought several airplane books to help prepare my 3 year old daughter for a 12 hour flight coming up. This is her first plane ride and I wanted to help her know what to expect. She LOVES this book, she loves that there is a grandma at the end to greet the child, just as in her case, we are going to visit her grandma in South America. She loves the catchy phrases and nice big pictures, and is starting to memorize it and know it by heart which is so cute. OUt of the pile of about 5 airplane ride books I bought, this is always the one she grabs and says, "read my airplane book." The cost is a little higher than the others but way worth it, since it really strikes a cord with her. I think she would like this book even if I hadn't bought it for the reason to prepare her, I think it is just pleasing to kids with the short, catchy phrases and big, bright colors. Very pleased! The only reason I did not put 5 stars is that I wish I could find a book to address some of the negative things that we might/will encounter like waiting, getting hungry, going potty in public restrooms, not staring at other passengers, not yelling or whining, getting tired, strange noises and cramped spaces....and somehow put a positive spin on it like....but it is all worth it to see Grandma at the end of the long plane ride! Yes, it's fun and cool to ride in an airplane but it's long, annoying, and there are rules to follow as well, a good lesson for kids to learn from.

Grandsons loved this!
My little grandsons loved this for their first airplane ride! My daughter said the oldest kept remarking things he'd see at the airport and in the plane were "just like in the book"! Ordering another for their cousin's first plane ride this fall!

Great book for any toddler or young children first plane ride
I gave this to my 4-yr-old to get him ready for his first plane ride and I loved it! It explained the process of packing, going to the airport, going through security, riding in the airplane, etc without being too wordy or confusing. My son loves this book and even insisted on taking it on our trip!

Great story to prepare for travel, terrible quality
I bought this book in July to prepare my 2 year old for her first flight. The story is simple enough that she enjoyed it from the first read, but can be enhanced with conversations along the way about what your child can expect in their own experience. There is a page in the book that describes sounds and movements of a plane, and as we were taking off on our flights the following month we went back to these sounds and movements. My daughter was comfortable on all the flights she took and I think the familiarity and preparation that this book contributed to went a long way.The problem is with the book binding. The book has super cheap glue binding. By October (3 months after purchasing), pages started falling out. I’ve taped most of the pages in at this point, but the result is that the pages are all a bit misaligned now. It’s frustrating as a parent to find a book or toy your child really enjoys, only to have to be constantly fixing it or wondering how long it will last.

Cute book!
Cute, fun book! Got it for my 2year old grandson before his plane ride from California to Philadelphia. I just love that Grandma meets him at the airport. I even bought him a small toy plane similar to the one the little boy has in the book. I told his mother to put that aside and give it to him as a surprise/distraction when they get on the plane. Got him airplane pajamas and an airplane t-shirt to wear on his plane ride. He is ready to fly!
