Nonstaining blood clotting
I take a blood thinner and I am a woodworker which means I get nicks and scratches that bleed causing messes. This product helps shorten the time for scabs to form. It is a white powder rather than the old yellow powder styptic so it appears to be less conspicuous.

Old product still works well
Application can be tricky, but does what it's supposed to do.

Everyone should have this simple remedy in their medicine cabinet!
Everyone should have this powder on hand in their medicine cabinet, for those odd little cuts that just don't want to stop bleeding. Always keep this product uncontaminated, by not touching the opening. When needed, pour a little onto the cut, and it will stop the bleeding of superficial cuts. My husband recently had an odd cut that wouldn't stop bleeding, it was bleeding fast and all he had done was scratch his neck! It was almost 5 pm on a Friday, and although I used this successfully on the tiny cut he had only got from his fingernail, I was worried at how fast it had been bleeding, & if it would reopen while he slept later that night, and urged him to go to the doctor. Somehow, he was able to get in. I had to paint a vivid picture for him about sitting in an E.R. on a weekend, to get him to grumpily go to the doctor, hoping to avoid that miserable E.R. experience. The doctor looked at it, said the powder used was all that was needed, and didn't do anything else for my husband except charge him $$ for the visit.Keep this on hand, it is much easier to use in powder form than in a pencil, which is hard & cannot successfully be used on a cut that needs to clot. If you have a problem with frequent cuts bleeding profusely, you need to get your blood values & pro-time checked, which has to do with blood not clotting properly, and could be dangerous. But if all is well, this product is wonderful to have on hand for everyone, for those rare little moments when a superficial cut just doesn't want to stop bleeding.

Not a fine powder
First off, this stuff works just fine to stop bleeding from shaving cuts. But, I was expecting a fine powder. Instead, it's kinda granular. It's not as easy to apply and is a little uncomfortable. But it still works.

Used to be a great product, recent changes made current item impossible to use.
Always need a styptic pencil for shaving nicks, but hate the mess it leaves and the way it reacts and disintegrates after being rinsed, even if you dry it with tissue. Also never felt comfortable with having blood contact with the pencil, then rinsing and reusing it. I know, I know, supposed to have an antiseptic quality, but not medical-grade sanitizing here.Someone comes up with the same product ground to a powder - moisten your fingertip, put a little puff of the styptic powder on it, touch your nick, and the bleeding stops. No mess to clean up unless you touch the nozzle of the container on your wet finger, no concerns about an unsanitary pencil with blood residue on it. Excellent product, and good value for the money! Stops bleeding every bit as fast as the stypic pencil, maybe even faster since it dissolves more quickly. Can't speak as to how long it will last, obviously depends on how serious your weepers and bleeders are...UPDATE: I purchased three of these over past two months - they are not powder any longer but a coursely chunked up styptic pencil. Won't even fit through the nozzle, and no way to apply it to a cut, as the chunks are big and sharp enough that they either hurt or fall off your wet finger before you can apply it. For the record, Amazon sent replacement bottles, but they also were the course chunks, not the powder that used to work so well. Changing rating to one star.

Convenient
Like others, I found the powder to be clumped up and compacted. But with a little effort, I was able to break it up by tapping the bottle. I only have needed it for minor cuts/weepers but it did the trick with little mess.

Stings like crazy but works great
It stings like crazy for a few seconds but stops the bleeding immediately.
