FirstMatePet Foods Pacific Ocean Fish Senior/Weight Control, 28.6 Pound

This is the weight management formula which my dogs will not eat. They were used to eating the same formula of First Mate kibble. I will not buy this again.

**UPDATE**So frustrated with Amazon not stocking this food and size bag anymore. We bought the 15lb bag waiting for the 28lb to be in stock and no such luck. The issue is Amazon and not first mate. Their food is great and we will get it from elsewhere.Original ReviewWe have been feeding my dog this for the past 3 years and are thrilled it's finally available on Amazon! Our senior dog is a pit bull boxer mix and at 14 years old has been eating senior dog food for half his life. He has extremely sensitive skin and has gotten rashes, bumps and gastro issues with many foods, especially chicken and beef- based foods. All of the allergies went away when we switched to this brand and have stayed away! Other brands he would be find after the initial phase in and would subsequently get skin reactions 2-3 months later.

Food arrived and dog liked it. But huge issue is it is as hard as a rock? Is anyone else experiencing this? I can not break it with my hands and a 4 yr old and a 17 yr old both have tremendous trouble chewing this. They basically have to swallow it whole?

KaCee is a large (that's a nice way of say she is overweight) Golden Retriever that also has terrible food allergies. When I was told by her Vet to find a senior/weight control food I knew it was going to be difficult. There are a lot of foods that are senior/weight control on the market. When I searched at least 40 foods came up, of those she had a chance of being able to eat only two. I chose FirstMate Pacific Ocean Fish. She is doing well on it. She has lost 13 lbs. and has had no allergic reaction.

Amazon has been out of FirstMate Pacific Ocean Fish Senior Formula since I ordered in April 2016. I spoke with staff at FirstMate, and they informed me that the stocking issue is an Amazon ordering matter and not a product concern.Today, June 14, 2016, I am still waiting for the 4/16 order and will have to purchase more through another proveyer prior to it's estimated shipping date of 6/28/16.The FirstMate food is the best! My 10yo Australian Cattle Dog loves it, her Vet loves it, and it keeps an old dog, with miserable food allergies, on the top oh game, and herd.

We're always looking for low protein and low fat senior dog food for my 7 years old sheltie (I have 2 other younger ones) Who is allergy to chicken! We like this food as it's made by fish and keep them very healthy and slim! Been having this food for 3-4 months now and very satisfied the body's reaction from them. Lesser poo and not stinky! Teeth are not very easy to build up tartar. We will keep having this food.

I chose this brand after doing a lot of shopping around. My dog is 11 years old, and was just put on a hypoallergenic diet due to food allergies. I chose this one because it is exaclty the ingredients that my vet wants him to have, but he also needs the senior formula for the added vitamins for his joints. He's always been a picky eater, but he absolutely loves this stuff!

My dog likes this kibble but I stopped using it when I had to put her on a diet because it is higher in calories than some other weight loss kibble.
