Used it on my clock inside... so I can't attest to it's outdoor durability/longevity.
I used this tinted film over the front of my digital alarm clock. The numbers were so bright that at night it was like having a nightlight on -very annoying. This film definitely helped.

Not for curved surfaces
Wasn’t able to actually use this because it wouldn’t go down smoothly over the curves in my tiny motorcycle windscreen. For flat to semi-flat surfaces, it should be fine. Thick stuff.
